Alan does not look good at all. One of his cheeks is pretty fat and he looks like hes had no sleep for a while

Michael Rapaport's accent is making my fucking ears bleed.

That intro with boyd was fantastic. I thought he was going to try and sway him to change his story (I'm sure that was the intent), but he just went all in with the 'suicide'.

Not sure what to make of the ava thing, is someone else pulling strings there, or just a pissed off midget guard?

Bet Johnny has something to do with it.

Danny Strong is a dead son of a bitch, kind of like Alan Tudyk.

Is Amy Acker next week's guest star?

Stellar episode. That scene in the diner was grade-A tense. Accents aside, I'm even OK with Michael Rapaport as a bad guy -- something I had a very difficult time believing going in. I told my wife this show just feels like it is based on the creation of a great writer. Obviously, said writer doesn't write (and direct, act, etc.) the show, so kudos for the people involved that it comes off so well.

How can they keep cranking out such an amazing show week after week? This one was just jammed packed with amazing.

The only issue I had with the episode is why didn't Boyd pay off the wife? I know she has no leverage on him now, but it just seemed odd for him to back out of his agreement like that.

Ruthless Boyd is awesome. I want that short guard to get his real soon.

I don't know why Boyd screwed the wife. She'd at least get the dead old guy's $$ I guess, but still.

That assasin guy was great; sorry to see him go so soon (but man that gun was big). Same with that black guy getting shotgunned. Apparently you shouldn't provoke a crazy redneck sitting there reading Guns & Ammo.

Pretty sweet seeing the AA12 shotgun in action.

I don't think she gets the money because they weren't married long enough.

I'm sad to see the black guy go. I liked his character.

I'm terrible with character names. This also matches me being terrible remembering people's names in real life as well.

I'm of two minds on this. <strike>The first being simply, she'll still come around again this season.</strike> Nevermind... according to Yost, they were thinking of having her back, but the actress had to go back to True Blood. So they just wrapped that plot short.

The second is she's so small potatoes to Boyd, so Boyd showed her that she doesn't have the skills to scheme on his level.

--

I really love this season as they trim back the show's overarching plots and characters. It's really been a great payoff, makes me not care as much about some of the issues with Rapaport.

Re: Justified -- "Shot All to Hell" -- 2/04/14

I just thought it was sloppy of him to leave a loose end like that around. You pay her and you leave someone without a vendetta against you. I guess he figured executing the officer in front of her was enough to show her that he isn't there to play games with her.

I didn't even realize she was from True Blood.

would have loved for Wash to have stuck around for at least a few episodes. He kind of went out like a punk.

Yes he was very menacing. I would have loved for this storyline to play out a little longer.

Duffy was awesome in the one scene he was in at the diner. Loved the Alan as the hitman. Too bad he couldn't stick around longer.

Damn, that opening scene was good. Goggins was pretty much made for those speeches.

And Wynn Duffy continues to deliver with his deadpan delivery.
"The man really is enjoying his grapefruit juice"
"FYI, that's kind of a thing with these marshalls"

I'm kind of amazed how this show continues to be unpredictable. Like someone mentioned above I thought in the opening Boyd was just going to press him to back up on his statement. Was also surprised to see crocodile guy buy it, didn't see the Ava thing coming, and did not see Johnny turning things around on Hot Rod.

So the AUSA and Art were setting a trap for Raylan, right? He lets it slide that it was the FBI Agent, and they know it's him because isn't it the case he killed him or saw him killed or discovered him killed before that? The trick here is to leave the explanation at that, right? Raylan then says that Picker implicates Raylan (if he ever does) out of revenge? A Marshal vs. a con comes down to credibility, and the Marshal will be more credible.

First couple scenes with hitman Tudyk made hi out as a badass but then ends up being a piss poor shot at close range with a bigass gun. And speaking of bigass gun:

Art: holy lord that was a bad gun. Look at that thing! Did you see that thing?
Raylan: darn, no. I musta missed it

to me it seemed like the AUSA bought the FBI story as it was possible, but Art knew better. i think Raylan went with it, but then his conscience got him to go back to Art's office. if you watched the preview for next week, they seem to give some hints of the situation escalating between Art and Raylan.

Re: Justified -- "Shot All to Hell" -- 2/04/14

Rapaport gets worse each week. And I hate when they have people go flying through the air when they're shot with a shotgun. So stupid.

Those things aside, this is the Justified I know and love: plot twists, standoffs, double-crosses, snappy dialogue. Loved the opening scene with Art.

Boyd: "One thing I've never been accused of is being inarticulate."

I think he actually said "I ain't been" which makes it even funnier. Something to that effect. I'm pretty sure "ain't" was in there somewhere.

Art was awesome in this episode. It's so refreshing when smart characters actually behave smartly. I also like how things get addressed in a timely manner in the show and that don't drag things out.

To be fair I could never hit anything with the AA12 in Call of Duty either. :)

I'm thinking

Spoiler:
with the reminder of Art's pending retirement, Raylan mentioning that he needs to go to the range, and Art's bragging at the end about standing up to Hitman Alan that he is going to get killed soon. That would be a shame, but this show lives in a very violent world and I don't recall too many good guys getting killed so far.

This weeks Q&A:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/02/05/ju...t-all-to-hell/

Interesting tidbit about Jean-Baptiste

And the idea for Danny to shoot Jean-Baptiste?

Listen, we make our best efforts early on in the season as we hire actors to come on the show, and we can’t always guarantee them what they’re gonna be doing or where it’s gonna go. Getting Edi Gathegi was a big get for us, but the character just wasn’t panning out for him. He didn’t see where it was going, and even though we were thinking that Jean-Baptiste would survive until toward the end of the season, Edi wasn’t enjoying the journey. We had no contract to hold him to, so we said, “Well, let’s kill off Jean-Baptiste in episode 5.”

It definitely feels to me like they're setting that up, but it could be a misdirect.

It's possible, perhaps a sort of callback to the "The Gunfighter" episode in Season 3 when that guy was putting ice picks through peoples hands in his table game and Raylan beat him by pulling the tablecloth with the gun towards himself.
