It was BBC Worldwide that leaked it, not BBC America, although BBCA is part of a division of BBC Worldwide.

From another article:

The scripts are understood to have been disseminated online after being sent to the BBC Worldwide’s newly opened Latin America headquarters in Miami for translation.

"The opening episode is being simulcast globally so of course translations have to be prepared in advance," said a BBC source.
BBC America is based in New York City:

Reading the scripts now.

Pretty good so far. Looks like we're getting some naked Jenny! (Please don't eat for saying that, M. Vastra...)

Yes, per the final line of the article I cited, it was "a BBC Worldwide office in the US".

I mistakenly conflated this to "BBC America" prior to the quote and hereby claim the Neil Armstrong defence in that I typed "BBC in America" but that the "a" was drowned by, er, internet static

Reading the scripts, and ... HOLY SHIT, DUDE!

One of them takes a huge turn that's going to freak people the fuck out. This one's going to stir up some consternation among viewers, and I suspect a lot of people are going to hate it. My jaw hit floor when I got to that part and I actually had to stop reading for a bit.

Though it does answer a question you probably didn't know you had...

I have the scripts but haven't read any of them. I kinda want my first exposure to Capaldi's Doctor to be played by Capaldi. Not whoever my mind creates while reading the scripts.

Second BBC Worldwide leak

http://www.ibtimes.com/doctor-who-se...emiere-1626602
The first two episodes of "Doctor Who" Season 8, including a rough cut of "Deep Breath," have leaked online. The BBC said the episodes were taken from the BBC Latin America headquarters in Miami, the source of the "Doctor Who" Season 8 script leaks [...]Entertainment Weekly has an official look at the "Doctor Who" Season 8 premiere and what to expect from the new Doctor. According to EW, "Deep Breath" is set in Victorian England and will feature Strax, Madame Vastra and Jenny Flint, better known as the Paternoster Gang. Moffat said the episode will focus on introducing Capaldi as the new Doctor, setting up character traits and his personality.
You might think that one or two folk in Miami are going to be told to clear their desks after this second "leak".

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2014-...d-of-broadcast

A rough black and white edit of Peter Capaldi's first full episode as the Doctor has appeared on the internet six weeks ahead of its scheduled transmission date on 23rd August on BBC1.

The episode surfaced through the same security lapse that emerged on Monday, where five Doctor Who series 8 scripts, as well as dozens of other scripts and documents, appeared in public Google searches despite being stored on BBC Worldwide servers. Six Doctor Who video files were listed on this server, and while at the time of writing only the first episode has surfaced, there appears every chance further videos could still emerge online.

The incident is oddly similar to the 2005 leak of Rose, the first episode of the new Doctor Who era starring Christopher Eccleston, which appeared online around 20 days before broadcast. In that case, the leak was tracked to a Canadian third party.

Commenting on the latest revelations, a BBC Worldwide spokesperson told RadioTimes.com: "This is part of BBC Worldwide's ongoing security investigation into leaked unfinished Doctor Who materials. This content is currently being removed and originates from the same Miami server we disabled last week, it is not a new issue.
In the circumstances, "currently being removed" seems somewhat dilatory!

Re: Doctor Who Series 8 - Capaldi's Suit Revealed

Details of the launch of the new season:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/07/31/do...peter-capaldi/

Cool news is that there will be theatrical showings of the season opener. Doesn't sound like the theatrical showing is going to happen at the same time as the UK release though (not simulcast) but roughly the same day (or next). Still cool though, and it is something I thought would happen after the success of the 50th anniversary shows with theaters sold out everywhere. I'll be going for sure if SF is one of the lucky cities to host this, and looking forward to more of these Doctor Who events.
