If there is one this I've learned from True Detective threads this week is that females are almost universally horrible at the real/fake game. Those could not have possibly been more real.

I believe those getting hung up on who the killer is/isn't are setting themselves up for disappointment...this series really isn't about the murders, it's about the two characters (granted, one of them - or both of them - may be killers, but that's really not the point).
For a show that's taking such a relatively uncommon approach, revisiting something 20 years later, I feel it's almost a challenge from the creative powers... especially when we have a show where there was one single director/writer team for the entire season.
What's more, I feel like being able to do that, to find the tiniest details, is a hallmark of quality. Look at something like Lost - people desperately dig for meaning in every scene, but ultimately there is none to be found. It's all directionless, written on the fly on a per episode basis. This show doesn't feel that way to me, and like there are all these clues sprinkled about which will matter. I only hope I'm not disappointed, as this day and age shows that give a lick about planning and continuity are insanely rare. I'd kill if only there were more like this, or Carnivale, where it's not just visually stunning, uniquely told, but well thought out and planned in advance with attention to detail.
Look at Arrested Development - all these bits and pieces people discover years later. Shows should strive for such a thing, yet don't... mostly because Hollywood has evolved into a different creative team on a per episode basis. For me, that attention to detail is one of the most important things, which is probably why I watch so little now.

Really? I thought they looked fake, personally. Maybe it was the angle they were shot at, but the 'bullseyes' seemed to be off-center and lower than I'd have expected for 'the real deal.' Regardless, I don't think there's a red blooded male alive who'd kick her out of bed - real or fake. Yowza!

I would see almost definitely real because they were cylindrical and not spherical which implants typically are. That said nature will not be kind to them.

Count me in as saying they are REAL. My girlfriend has about the same size boobs, so I have some experience with them

I can't believe there were actually some knuckleheads in this forum who commented in the White Collar threads and said that Alexandra Daddario wasn't all that. It was probably in season 2 or 3 when she was last on the show.To all of you.

To Lisa's body. Oh man. Anyways, I watched this last night and this is definitely a real slow burn drama. Lots and Lots of dialogue. It seems like this drama is more of a character study. I only wish the pacing was a bit more brisk to get me hooked more. Rather than looking at this as an actual TV series about a murder mystery, I guess I'll try to look at it as more of an 8 hour feature film about 2 troubled Louisiana detectives & their dark pasts.
My Mother also watches this show and I think she's out after this episode. She told me she was bored out of her skull.

Nic Pizzolatto signed a new 2-year development deal with HBO. He's working on a story idea for season 2 and will present it to HBO.
As mentioned before, it will be an entirely new story arc & cast. Harrelson and McConaughey are 1 and done.

Yeah my friend was saying that throughout all of Boardwalk Empire he didn't give a second glance to the nudity, but for this he had to look up the actress immediately.

So... slam dunk for True Detective, right? Nope. Said the *exact* same things your mother did. Which... I don't get. At all. I watched the pilot with low expectations, and it seemed like 30 seconds later it was over. It's captivating, filled with so many visual and story details, that boring is just about the last word I'd use to describe it. One of the least boring shows I've ever watched.
Different strokes for different folks, maybe. Or maybe it's just a certain cast member has a certain half of the human population spellbound and hypnotized by two gigantic... umm, where was I? I just lost thirty minutes time picturing a certain scene in my head.

So I've been watching this on demand recently. So far it's OK. It's a real slow burn show. It hasn't really grabbed me yet but I am finding the killing semi-interesting. Honestly if not for Woody and Matthew I would probably be out already. But holly hell was that Alexandra Daddario nude scene amazing.
