Another show I have to laugh at is "Hawaii Five-O", where the team does an exposition scene where every member of the team briskly, expertly uses this fancy computer interface as if they were doing it all their life. At my job if we have change the e-mail system, half the people freak out and we have the IT guy take them through it step-by-step. There's never a glitch and no one puts anything in the wrong file (unless its a comedy).

There was a show once on History or something like that which went over what the actual injury would be if TV/Movie action violence cliches happened in real life like breaking bottles over someone's head or a chair or hitting them with a gun, what happens when you get shot by a shot gun or go through a window things like that. Almost all of them were likely to be fatal.
But some of the "fatal" things in action movies like getting shot in the belly turn out to be anything but instantaneous. |

Another one is that anytime someone is shot with a shotgun, they go flying backwards ten feet! Mythbusters handled that one as well and, nope, you would pretty much just fall where you are.

Re: Stupid Plot Devices in "Action" Shows
What I've been noticing in a lot of shows/movies, not just action is that at night the streets are always wet. It could be set in a dry area but there area always wet streets at night. I guess something to do with lighting the scene but seems they could do something else to light it.

Wet streets just looks cooler on film. There's no other reason for it.
