Actually, that might be a good thing...Spike isn't as teen angst as MTV is. I liked the show and binged watched it in a weekend about a month ago. We'll see what happens with it, I just wish they were more faithful to the source material (which is my favorite author incidentally).

I'm guessing it doesn't survive for a third season. MTV cutting it doesn't portend much faith in the show by Paramount. Spike is a dying channel with dwindling viewership.

It's not a cheap show either. Shot on location in New Zealand and with the special FX and costumes, it's probably quite expensive for a low rated channel like Spike.

I enjoyed Season One, though it felt a little lower budget than a big production like Game of Thrones. But still, a fun watch!

I actually thought the first series was rather boring and was surprised they decided to make more, not that my tastes are an arbiter of anything. Oh well, I'll probably watch this one anyway since swords and sorcery is my Kryptonite.

I have no idea... the first season bore little resemblance to the book it was based on. However, I did notice that a new cast member in season 2 is playing a somewhat important character from the books.

The second season of the hit fantasy series "The Shannara Chronicles" premieres Wednesday, October 11 at 10pm ET/PT on Spike. The new season consists of 10 one-hour episodes. The first season of the original scripted drama, based on the best-selling fantasy book series by Terry Brooks, debuted on MTV in 2016. Season two takes place one year after the events of last season. The Four Lands are in chaos. The re-emergence of magic has the populace terrified, and an organization called The Crimson is hunting down magic users, using fear and intimidation to sow discord among the races. Wil, scarred by the loss of Amberle and his separation from Eretria, has turned his back on his magical destiny to become a healer. But when a mysterious woman named Mareth saves Wil from a Crimson attack, he is forced to rejoin the fight.

I have a feeling this season two will also be its last season. I don't think there is much chance that Spike renews it as they rebrand the channel once again.

Re: The Shannara Chronicles -- Series Thread
Starting tonight, it appears that they are doubling up the episodes. I wonder if they are burning through them because it's going to be canceled...
Not always an indication - I think TNT did that with The Librarians and it's returning next month.
I hope it sticks around. This isn't the series I was hoping for, since it is so far removed from the books (more like a cobbling together of popular characters from many of the Shannara series), but still it has potential. Just have to enjoy it independent of the books.
