Brooklyn Nine-Nine - "Christmas" - 12/3/13

Captain Holt receives death threats and Jake is put in charge of his security, a job he enjoys and abuses as much as he can. Meanwhile, Amy attempts to get the precinct to take a Christmas photo for Holt, but a lack of enthusiasm and Rosa's refusal to smile defeats her efforts. Also, Sergeant Terry Jeffords gets his mojo back in the all-new "Christmas" episode of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE airing Tuesday, Dec. 3 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (BRK-111) (TV-14 D, L)

This show is so stinkin' funny. Jake's reaction when he was given the assignment to guard Captain Holt was laugh-out-loud priceless. Definitely my favorite comedy right now.

Not as funny as a few earlier episodes, but still one of the funniest shows on tv.

^ Agree. Not one of the stronger ep's, but still pretty good. What continues to get me is Holt's deadpan delivery to everything. Braugher's casting was spot-on for this role.

I'm gonna have to re-watch earlier episodes, but are they dumbing down Santiago? I remember her in the beginning as the intelligent foil to Peralta's goofiness, but now she's just the clueless ditz desperately seeking Holt's approval.

Anyone else think the cast might actually be too big? It's hard squeezing in all of the characters in a 30-minute sitcom format.

Naw, I think they just have to whittle down the plots a bit. Keep it down to one plot and one subplot (although now that I'm writing this, I remember when Seinfeld used to have four distinct plots, one for each of the main characters, and the plots would weave and intersect and eventually all tie together....damn that was a good show!).

This past episode had Peralta guarding Holt, Santiago wanting to do the Christmas card (which led to the sub-subplot of getting Rosa to smile), Boyle wanting to catch a flight, and Jeffords requalifying for field duty. Scratch one or two of the plots, integrate the now plotless characters into one of the existing ones, and it irons out. I still think the writers are trying to figure out the direction of the show and the characters and expect the better episodes are yet to come. They've got a good basis though, and some very talented and funny actors.

No, she always came off as a bit of a dolt. She's oblivious to the fact that she's kind of goofy, which is why her role is funny.

Finally caught up. Rose had a nicer smile after the pop n lock but I guess that was impromptu.

I love Braugher and Crews in this but I find Chelsea Peretti incredibly annoying.

I am so in on this show. Glad I gave it a shot after ignoring it for so long.

Or people that actually find her funny were born without a soul.
