Re: Sons of Anarchy -- "Sweet and Vaded" -- 10/22/13

How can the other actors keep straight faces when Goggins is doing his thing as Venus?

Gemma finally put it all together after getting locked up. Tara is one demented chick, miscarrying her own baby to pin it on Gemma. Even Calamity Jane was looking at her in a new light.

Is Robocop really going to get rid of the body, or use it to screw Jax?

Re: Sons of Anarchy -- "Sweet and Vaded" -- 10/22/13

Maybe I completely misinterpreted it, but did Tara really miscarry a child or was she just pretending to? Between shoving the packet of blood down her panties and not letting anyone examine her, it seemed like she just staged it to get Jax to sign. I'm guessing she was either never pregnant or didn't really miscarry it if she was (though that would seem pretty risky) and is using the hospital administrator chick to make the ruse work.

About an hour into the show I found myself thinking "It's been a while since we've seen some good prison lovin'" and sure enough Sutter wove it in masterfully and seamlessly into the musical montage.

Good to see Rat get patched in.

Another solid episode. Tara was never pregnant, but wouldn't the hospital personnel figure that out quickly? Hmm. Walter Goggins is just brilliant.

Why question is why does Tara want to leave and divorce Jax? I haven't seen any indication that she's fallen out of love with him. Is it because she wants to get the kids away from the club?

It's a small hospital, and the hospital administrator is in on the conspiracy. That said, surely Gemma gets arrested but charges never stick. They'd have to be crazy.

I don't think the ex cop is going to screw them over with the body. While it might be to his advantage in some ways, they were fucking making child porn in his backyard. There's a code. I also don't think he's taking CCH Pounder's DA character too seriously. My guess is that he's thinking too many irons in the fire for her...he won't get burned.

I'm still not quite sure what Tara's end game is.

has every episode had a "crank the music and commence chase/fleeing scene" ?

This show is a fun and ridiculous soap opera

It can be a fun and ridiculous soap, but hot damn FX still needs to find Sutter an editor. Last night was a lot better than some episodes since it was only 75 minutes with commercials, but it could have still used a nice edit.

It cracks me up how they stop and put their helmets on before they begin the high speed pursuit.

I'm way sicker of the whole "lets have a music montage at the beginning and end of every episode" nonsense. This is the only show that I watch and enjoy, but seem to be counting the minutes for it to end. Like someone else said, these episodes need a better editor, or some sort of restriction on the length.

I used to assume DvdTalk viewers were more intelligent than usual viewers.

Gonna have to reconsider that.

Holy shit Sutter! Enough with the fucking music montages already. They were cool when they used them way back on Homicide, and they were okay once in a while on Shield, but on this show, they are so bad, and so forced that they're just ridiculous. And there's like two or three in each episode. Cut that shit out!

Why are we wasting time Venus too? What is the point of it? Does it really have any bearing on the overall plot?

At least Venus is interesting. This episode felt like an oddball short story. I'll take more of that over will Clay/whatshisIrish betray the club again? (Spoiler: of course they will).

What happened to the dude from Shameless? Wasn't he one of Bobby's nomad recruits because he was so frustrated with the direction of SAMCRO/JK, he loves this club?

Ah, that could be. The character wasn't really around long enough to remember his name. I assume he also "got spooked" due to Shameless's filming schedule.
