The Middle -- "Thanksgiving II" -- 11/24/10

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
By djariya at 2010-09-03

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Mike begrudgingly invites his brother, Rusty (Norm Macdonald), who is temporarily living in a tent, and his father, Big Mike, who has recently broken his hip, to join him for the annual Heck family Thanksgiving. But when Frankie observes the macho Heck men's non-communicative nature, she encourages a not-so-receptive Mike to engage them in a real conversation and express their feelings. Meanwhile, Brick is ecstatic when he discovers that Bob is bringing his girlfriend, Linda - the local librarian who loves books as much as Brick does - to Thanksgiving; and Sue wants to start a mother-daughter tradition of baking a pie for the holiday, but ends up getting more sliced up than the crust.

Repeat next week. New episode on December 8th.

Love this show, my wife and I laughed pretty hard throughout the entire episode. Being parents of three children we can totally relate... especially the take-out food part, so dead on!

Currently my favorite sitcom is "Community" but "The Middle" is right there behind it.

Not a boring moment in this half hour, one of the series best.

Seeing Axl and his baby doll in bed together in the same position was hilarious!

It was pretty good considering Brick's stoylines are mostly solos. Have they ever had a story together before?

Re: The Middle -- "Super Sunday" -- 1/19/11

"8th Place and Participant! TWO ribbons for the board!" While normally Sue is somewhat of a downer character to watch, her reasoning last night opened up her character really well. She doesn't want to "peak" now because it'll only be downhill from there in her mind - she'd rather peak when she's old enough to savor it. A very cool concept that will allow me to witness her failures and laugh/roll along with it like she seems to do.

The Middle -- "Spring Cleaning" -- 03/23/11

Wasn't keen on the last episode with Doris Roberts 2nd visit, but I really enjoyed the scenes between Axl and Sue tonite -- especially at the beginning with him taunting her for hoarding broken curlers.

Brick upping the ante on the 5 cents Psychiatric Booth and charging a dollar.

I would love to see ABC hold off on the show's repeats until summer and bring back Cougartown in the 8:30 time slot.

Wow, no replies?! Thought this was another solid episode. The ending was so predictable but it still ended up being funny.

Re: The Middle -- "Spring Cleaning" -- 03/23/11

The Middle is my second favorite half hour comedy (1st is Community). The writer's on this show nail what it's like to be a parent right on the head. Sadly, my wife and I find ourselves laughing out loud at most of the situations because we can relate all too well.

Also, I love how they reference story points from earlier shows... WARNING spoiler from earlier shows:
Spoiler:
I never expected the the lost screwdriver/hole in Sue's wall to show up again, that was awesome.

Solid show from start to finish, well written and hilariously well acted.

I didn't want to start a new thread, but I thought the April 20 episode was great. Especially Sue:

"What happened?!?! is Justin Bieber dead?!?!"

Love Sue!
"I'm Sue Heck, and that's what the heck's going on!"

Frankie on the scones: "They're supposed to be stale and dry...they're British!"

I've sat thru a Sony 3D demo at the MGM hotel in Vegas once, and after this episode, I don't think I'll ever wear any used demo glasses ever again.

Re: The Middle -- "The Prom" -- 5/11/11

Did noone watch the Mother's Day episode last week? (I did post a thread last week) I caught it a few days ago and it was hilarious. I guess this is the least popular Wednesday comedy here.
