I did. I just didn't have anything to say about it. I thought it was great as usual, but I think you and I might be the only folks here watching. :)

I still watch it as well. Brick going off on Mike about the hardware store and his gloves were great.

Reverend TimTom to the rescue! :)

Haven't tuned into Extreme Makeover: Home Edition since probably the first season, but I'll definitely watch this Sunday's featuring The Middle cast.

I thought last year's Mother's Day ep was better with Frankie's comparison/contrasts to Mike's Father's day. Sue being fickle about her gift shop purchases was great.

Weird Ashley: I'm into wizards.
Frankie: Oh! Like Harry Potter!
Weird Ashley: Who?

I got a little misty with this episode with the exchange between Mike and Brick and then with Axel stepping up and doing the right thing. Also fun to see Sue "win" by sitting at the "B table" only to be like "meh" and move on. :D

My GF has a boring baby shower to go to on Sunday - so I've been saying "I guess I'll just have to go to Browne County by myself then"

I'm glad to see that they will be moving Sue to High School next year. I think the actress who plays her is 20 yrs old.

The Middle -- Season Finale -- "Back to Summer" -- 5/25/11

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
With only three days left until summer vacation, Frankie is ecstatic that she's made it through another school year with the family. But her happiness turns to panic when she and Mike learn that Brick needs to write a daily journal and turn it in to Ms. Rinsky (Doris Roberts) or risk not moving up to the fourth grade; that Axl hasn't fulfilled his required 30 days of community service; and that, because of an error, Sue must prove that she never took a sick day from school in order to receive a perfect attendance award at her middle school graduation ceremony, on "The Middle," WEDNESDAY, MAY 25 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

That synopsis makes it sound like a strange clip show. Too much to hope that if they do that it'd be like Community's?

I doubt it is a clip show if only because we've ever seen Axel doing community service. But didn't Brick have the same problem at the beginning of the school year with his summer journal?

pinata242 05-25-11 01:29 PM

Re: The Middle -- Season Finale -- "Back to Summer" -- 5/25/11

Right, but every solution seems to be looking back over the school year to a) fill out Brick's journal, b) prove Sue was at school, and c) find things that Axl can claim was community service.

It just sounds like a weird/fake clip show. We'll see.

No clip show. It pales compared to Modern Family but it is still one of my favorite shows. Axel has to be one of the funniest characters on TV

Much like last week, another great showcase for the Heck kids to shine. Not a clip show, but they had a sweet little clip montage towards the end.

Poor Barbara Hecky  She is the MVP of this sophomore season in my book.

I agree. And Sue's reaction followed by the clips made me cry a little. Great way to end a fun season.

Axel always taking his clothes off the minute he gets home from anywhere always cracks me up because that's exactly what my brother was doing when he was that age the minute he got home from anywhere.

1 Hour Season Premiere tonight. Yeah, another comedy getting 1 hour.

Synopsis:

With school about to start in a few days, Frankie realizes that she and Mike have barely spent time together with the kids over the summer, so she insists that they take a short family vacation. But when Mike decides that the perfect family getaway is a camping trip, memories of their campsite honeymoon 19 years earlier -- which was ruined by Nicky (Ray Romano), a sad-sack former high school acquaintance of Mike's -- come flashing back, on the Season Premiere of "The Middle," WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

For some reason, The Middle has never been popular here. A few of us watch, so I think it deserves at least 1 thread for anyone who wants to bump this.

For the record, I think this show is very funny.

I watch, but I'm usually like 3-4 episodes behind. It's definitely an underrated comedy, but it's not nearly as funny as Modern Family.

I think it's a great sitcom. Funny and not as annoying as other family sitcoms it replaced (i.e. Full House etc.). A bit edgy.

I never feel my 22 minutes were wasted with this show. That said, an hour is a bit much to swallow right off the bat.

I do love Axel and Sue.

I think we had this discussion months ago. You have some issue with comedies doing 1 hour episodes or airing 2 episodes in a row? Do you have some pressing yard work or cooking that needs to be done or something at 8pm? ;)

You must be pulling your hair out since The Middle and Modern Family are both 1 hour tonight?

Maybe I do, Mr. Judgmental! I don't know why I care, I watch them all while working the next day anyway. I think maybe it's because I only half watch, I feel like I'll somehow miss more when it's longer. It's not an exact science.

I'd say it is more like Malcolm in the Middle. The Ray Romano-Patricia Heaton reunion was written well. I laughed quite a bit. Another episode where Axel is shirtless. Is that a requirement for every episode? ;)

Re: The Middle -- The 3rd Season Thread -- Premieres 9/21/11 (ABC)

Stretching to an hour isn't such a hot idea. It was good, but felt like far too many moments of nothing.

Re: The Middle -- The 3rd Season Thread -- Premieres 9/21/11 (ABC)

I rarely watch this show because, although I like the parents, I can't stand the kids. I think it's because I actually know kids like that so it's too "real" for me to be fun.

I tuned in for the Ray Romano reunion scenes. I liked bits and pieces of this but, in the end, I feel comfortable with my decision to not watch this show.

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Norm Macdonald Guest Stars as Mike's Brother, Rusty

"The Play" - Frankie is thrilled when she learns that the Orson Community Theater is putting on a production of "The Wizard of Oz," and that kids don't need to audition to be munchkins, as they will be automatically cast - which is a perfect scenario for a hapless Sue. But things quickly go awry when Frankie is cast in a singing role and learns the director is not happy with Sue's performance and may cut her from the play. Meanwhile, Brick asks his unreliably quirky Uncle Rusty (Norm Macdonald) to attend his school's Special Friends Day - with disastrous results -- on "The Middle," WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Probably one of the most under-appreciated comedies in this forum. This season has been really funny so far.

skatefan20 11-17-11 10:42 AM

Re: The Middle -- "The Play" -- 11/16/11

Obviously Frankie and the play director have never seen Maggie on PanAm for actual crazy eyes.

"Dad let us drive, we turned out okay."
"You wanna rephrase that?"
"uh...'Dad let we drive, us turned out okay'? Is that what you're looking for, Grammar Police??"
rotfl Norm Macdonald and his delivery

It would be fun if it turned out Uncle Rusty was the one who helped Brick cross the bridge in a moving vehicle.

This show, Suburgatory, Modern Family is essential viewing for me on Weds. Still trying to warmup to HE this season, or maybe I'm just waiting for pennycan to return.

It's too bad not many people are watching this show. It has really found a groove and is laugh out loud funny week in and week out. Loved last night's episode. Reminded me of what's going on around here. Trying to keep something a secret for Christmas and everyone wants to get one beforehand. Axel and Sue are some great characters. Love this show every week.

I mean no offense but I gave this show a try because the janitor is in it.

- The mom is a bitch (no surprise coming from Patrica Heaton who bitches it up no matter what she does or even as herself)

- The older boy is an annoying weiner

- The daughter is so ugly I can't eat while watching the show

- The little boy seems like a machine that was built in the "cute and weird' factory - I swear I think I've seen the same or perhaps similar kid on TV for the last 20 years.

- And then the janitor...man I miss Scrubs.

But when her parents tell her that she could get her own car if she got a job, Sue ends up working as a potato girl at a local mall eatery. Meanwhile, Frankie and Mike are called into Brick's principal's (Rachel Dratch) office and are informed that he has not attended any of his classes - and much to the family's dismay, Axl begins to spend his nights back home when he becomes fed up with having to deal with his horrible college roommate, on "The Middle," WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Guest starring are Rachel Dratch as Principal Barker, Dierk Torsek as Reverend Hayver, Tommy Bechtold as Kenny, Jimmy Bellinger as manager and Jessie Lande as Beth.

"The Potato" was written by Tim Hobert and directed by Lee Shallat Chemel.

Thought I would throw up at least 1 thread for this. I know this show doesn't really get talked about here, but I find it can be LOL funny many times. It's a really underrated family sitcom.

Tonight is episode 3
