Re: The Middle -- "The Jeans; The Neighbor" -- 01/06/10

Had an 8 episode marathon today (Yeah I was that far behind)

Good stuff. Really liking this show. It's not laugh out loud funny, but the characters are really enjoyable and the show has alot of heart.

I liked the Jeans episode. It wasn't great, but it had some good moments. It was funny seeing Frankie freaking out after she shrank Sue's and how ridiculously dinky they got.

The Neighbor episode was good. Brooke Shields looked fricking scary as the white trash neighbor. The makeup people on this show did a really good job on her.

Definitely not that Blue Lagoon look.

This has become one of my favorite shows!

The Middle -- "The Interview" -- 01/13/10

The Middle

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Mike's plant is closed for research after he finds a dinosaur bone in the quarry, and he begins to feel like a dinosaur himself when he sees how much technology has affected searching for a new job. Meanwhile, Brick decides to run for school historian, and Frankie feels like she must come to his rescue.

All caught up now after having an 8 episode marathon last week. Very fun comedy and glad it will be back for a season 2.

Yeah - I had a feeling Brick would pull it out... but I was thinking that he would win because he was running unopposed.

Fun show.

Re: The Middle -- "The Interview" -- 01/13/10

8 p.m.

FOX: "American Idol" (25 million viewers, 14.0/22 households)
CBS: "The New Adventures of Old Christine" (6.25 million, 4.1/7)/"Gary Unmarried" (5.8 million, 3.8/6)
NBC: "Mercy" (5.9 million, 3.8/6)
ABC: "Modern Family" rerun (5.3 million, 3.3/5)/"The Middle" (6.1 million, 3.7/6)
The CW: "One Tree Hill" rerun (908,000, 0.6/1)
The Middle actually ran second in total viewers!

I liked how fast forwarding video on a cell phone still resulted in the same sound as fast forwarding physical tape.

Can you even hook up a phone like that to TV?

I had the misfortune of catching about half of this last night and wow, what a mediocre, unfunny show. Those kids have to be three of the worst child actors I've ever seen and Patricia Heaton is just awful.

I think they're hilarious and easily the best part about the show.

I agree, but Sue takes some getting used to. I was looking at Axl's facial expressions last night thinking that you just can't fake that. I think he's being himself, but in a good way. He kind of acts like he's high, though.

I laughed at that as well (and the quality was like HD).

The material is horrible, but I like the cast. Sometimes it can be funny (rarely laugh out loud), but last night was the most annoying episode yet. The title says it all.

I just discovered this show and it's the funniest new show I've seen in YEARS. That whole hotel scene and the dad telling the quietly sobbing girl to be quiet, and Axl sleeping in a V and "I can hear you." All GREAT stuff.

Re: The Middle -- "The Bee" -- 03/03/10

I started reading this thread having completely forgotten that I fell asleep last night before the show ended. I figured Brick wouldn't get to go to DC for some reason. It's been a formula for sitcoms since their inception-- one that I don't find funny. I love the show, however. I knew from the moment Sue came in asking for a special dinner that it was her birthday.

I was thinking the same thing and they made it seem that he would screw up the spelling of one of the words. But never did I expect that his 'whispering' would screw things up.

I just finished watching the episode and the 't' whisper didn't bother me like a guffaw would on another show because that's been Brick's little glitch since day one. I wonder how he made it that far without whispering extra letters.
