A Sue Heck spinoff is already in the works: http://ew.com/tv/2018/05/30/the-middle-spin-off/

Sounds awesome, I'm guessing if it happens it might not be for another year or two.

It's being developed now and a Pilot could film in October. It could air as early as midseason 2019.

Well, if Eden Shear is interested than I would watch it.

Hmmm. Not sure how I feel about this. I like Sue but in small doses.

I loved the show but a little of her went a long way. Not sure if a whole show about her would catch on. They always divided up the attention pretty evenly so no one outshined the other. I could probably see an Axl spinoff before Sue.

One could argue the last 2 seasons were an Axl spinoff. I agree that a little Sue Heck goes a long way, but I was equally skeptical about Sheldon, and I love that show.

With all those quirks I think focusing of any one of the characters too long would have been too much. Let's face it, for as loveable as they were, they could be pretty unlikeable at times.

Likewise with TBBT and Sheldon. Jim Parsons made that show the smash it is, but when they focus too much on Sheldon and his treatment or mistreatment of others it becomes fatiguing. I can't even watch the promos for Young Sheldon that kid bothers me so much.

Re: The Middle (ABC) -- Series Thread

ABC passed on the Sue Heck spinoff but the studio may try to sell it elsewhere. They should just put it on Freeform like what they did with Grownish.

On one hand, I don't think this could ever capture the magic of the original. On the other hand, if they had a ton of cameos, they could certainly try. I would love to see them try.

Re: The Middle (ABC) -- Series Thread

The Pilot must have sucked. Plus, ABC is going through a regime change since their President just resigned.

On an unrelated note, I'm a little surprised that WB hasn't sold off The Middle for streaming yet. Maybe it will appear on their own service next year. The TV syndication money must be great that they don't need it.

Re: The Middle (ABC) -- Series Thread

Just discovered this show. Courtesy of some Brick clips on youtube.

I'm enjoying it, no annoying characters, no laugh tracks. Not great, but I like it better than Modern Family or the TBBT.

In their prime, MF and TBBT were better than The Middle. I think the big difference was that The Middle maintained a very high quality throughout the entire run. Whereas the other two are shadows of them former selves. Been running on fumes for years.
