I did drop this from my DVR (so you don't have to worry about me posting next week!), but I might catch up with it on Blu-ray if it sounds like it gets better down the line.

I liked it a bit more than the pilot. Had some issues but they were typical 'TV show' issues (inflatable raft plugs up hole in plane 30k feet up)
Can't wait for next episode !

One thing I really like is the look of The Bus. The inside is whatever, but I love the outside design of the plane.

Whenever something really silly happens in the show I am just going to tell myself that Christopher Nolan is really directing and it will make it an automatic masterpiece.

The interior reminds me of a small scale version of the cargo hold of Serenity.

The car chase scene reminded me of watching A-Team as a kid

The show is not that bad, but they may be targeting families, kids in the 6-14 age range, etc. But the cast is a bit too 'good looking' and it does come off like a teen drama / soap opera

Here's my problem with it. We already now that the series is a spin off from the movies. Mentioning it in the pilot was fine because it was a pilot and they were trying to establish a link. But after awhile it just becomes goofy when they constantly make references to the movie when everyone who is watching the show already knows what happened in the movies. That's not even counting the fact that the TV series has little link to the movies. I highly doubt any of these nameless Shield agents show up in Avengers 2 unless the show becomes a huge hit. Like I said it comes across as the little brother trying to hang off the success of big brother. And lets be honest, if it wasn't for the movies popularity we wouldn't even be watching this show now because it would never be made.

If we watch a TV series that takes place between Empire and Return, making a reference to what happened in the pilot is fine. But we don't need to be beat over the head with references to the movies otherwise it comes across as them going "See! We're connected to the movies! That's why were saying this!"

I still haven't seen Avengers (yet I knew what the "hammer" comment referred to), yet I'm enjoying the show so far. :shrug: :lol:

The second set of engines behind the main ones sorta bug me. I'm trying to figure out how effective they are taking in the thrust from the front engines. I know, I'm over-thinking.

I still think the show is okay. I think I had mentioned their numbers would be down this week. If the show keeps getting better, the ratings might creep back up.

Th giant SHIELD logo on all the vehicles bugs me. I thought they were a "men in suits" shadow agency? Yes, New York changed things, but why would they draw attention to themselves?

I think you are forgetting that the "Battle of New York" was the biggest thing to ever happen on the planet...right after all of the superheroes showed up, which was the previous "biggest thing to happen on the planet". This organization is specifically designed to deal with these planet-changing issues. Of COURSE they are going to talk about them.

It's not a great example, but it's like if there was a TV show about a task force that was built specifically to deal with the fallout of 9/11, and then getting annoyed when they reference 9/11.

I enjoy the show even though it does have problems. Until a character has their vertebrae pushed back in or some one shows up with hooded prisoners and they wait until they get 3000 feet into the air on The Bus to take them off I will stick with it.

I felt this episode was far better than the pilot, which didn't do much of anything right. People probably need to temper their expectations, this series is probably going to be a big step down in quality from prior shows associated with Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy.

It looks heavily influenced by both ABC and Marvel. There is still an ongoing movie franchise worth billions of dollars, so this series likely has to step lightly on its continuity. I do think they made a mistake, this series seems to be aiming for a very young audience. Marvel's most important demo is boys aged 12 to 18. I don't think they will stick around for a network television show with poor FX and no superheroes. This should have been a darker series aimed at 18-49 adults.

I enjoyed this episode much more than the first. This has no place on ABC Family though, people actually died (albeit bloodlessly). I'll stick with it for a while.

Well that was a step up, but still far from good. It was somewhat fun, so I'll stick with it a little longer. The whole production reminds me of Terra Nova though.

I laughed at the intro as well. Gregg's performance in that scene was atrocious.

Person of Interest, Hawaii 5-0, Walking Dead, Burn Notice, 24, Alias... all well lit shows with excellent fight/action sequences. All of which look fantastic, are choreographed well and have that big budget feel despite being on the small screen. Hell even Chuck had more impressive fight sequences.

Exactly. Everything is compounded.

The Peru sequence reminded me of Stargate. I loved Stargate, but it was on a lower tier network with a fraction of the budget of a network show so expectations aren't as high.

How much was he really involved though? I don't buy that he created any of these cliched characters at all. Muscles telling the geek to speak English instead of tech babble? *groan*

I hate that tired-out old trope, too. Then again, I hate the tired-out old trope of having a weak and timid tech wunderkind as part of the team, as well.

And seriously, are they actually going to collectively refer to them as "Fitzsimmons" the whole series? That's like "Bennifer", or "Brangelina". That was my only real out loud groan during the second episode.
