she's ok. not great, not terrible. she's just there. Prentiss was so much better.

Spoilers for the most recent episode (1/28):

Spoiler:
All of this time and they get rid of Gideon like that? Ugh! At least Rossi killed the dude.

I agree. They could easily have done the "young Rossi and young Gideon" flashbacks...

Spoiler:
without killing off the character...

it thought it was a lousy thing to do. the whole thing felt cheap and rushed.

Spoiler:
i guess he is never going to come back now in any capacity.

He was never coming back to the show. Who cares of he was killed off? I sure don't.

Mandy Patinkin has made no secret that he dislikes the show and is pretty much ashamed of his time on it. He doesn't like their portrayal of violence, especially against women. So, no, there was no chance he was ever going to appear on the show again.

I thought they handled it pretty well. Reid's reluctance to go in and reaction to the verification that it was Gideon was heartbreaking.

Yup, he said on 60 Minutes a few months ago he regretted signing up for the show. He only did it because of the money and said he was really greedy at the time.

For those who aren't aware, CBS is producing a Criminal Minds spinoff backdoor Pilot to air later this season. The episode is being filmed in February. Gary Sinise and Anna Gunn would star in it if it gets picked up. Also, Sinise is playing a new character, not Mac Taylor from CSI NY. Gunn was just cast as the female lead.

Meh. The last Criminal Minds spin off was terrible.

True, but I like Sinise and apparently the new one isn't going to be Criminal Minds 2.0.

I detect the influence of Joe Mantegna in the casting of Sinise. The two actors are friends and heavily involved in "support the troops" activities.

Gary Sinise and Anna Gunn with the cast of Criminal Minds during filming of the new spinoff.

Thoughts?

I thought the new team was bland, including Sinise's character. I'm not exactly counting down the days to the new series premiere in the fall.

BTW, I've seen no sign of Kevin all season. I'm assume Nicholas Brendon's multiple arrests have ended his days on the show.

The Monte character (the techie worked with Garcia in this episode) was Noah from TWD. Since this spinoff was in the works, I wonder if that had anything to do with his character being killed off.

i am pretty sure it was. since he got a featured role, he couldn't be on TWD anymore.

Yeah, this spinoff cast was as bland as coffee cake - don't see the point of spinning off more of the same - but I guess it never stopped Jerry Bruckheimer. Also, this earnestly diverse casting seems to forget that chemistry is more important than the hue of the actors.
Who would have thought that the kid who played Chris Rock as a child would grow up to look like Eddie Murphy?

finally saw it. it was average. anna gunn still bugs the shit out of me. sinese looks like he's playing the same guy from CSI: NY. I did like the Asian guy and "Noah."

Hmm... In this week's ep, one of the crimes took place in "Derry, Maine."

Derry is of course a fictional town from Stephen King's novels It and 11/22/63, among others. This episode was directed by Matthew Gray Gubler, so I'm going to guess that he's a fan.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is leaving after one season...

Come on producers, just do whatever you have to do to make nice with Paget Brewster.

Not surprising since she was pregnant for half the season. Was hilarious in these last episodes when all you saw of her was sitting down.

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders starring Gary Sinise picked up to series.

Anna Gunn, who appeared in the backdoor pilot, will reportedly not return for the series.

I finally watched the backdoor pilot recently during a Criminal Minds binge watch. It wasn't anything great, but storywise I like the potential especially with the international angle.

But, they did write in J-Love Hewitt's pregnancy into the show.

A.J. Cook is also pregnant and will probably have her kid close to the time the season premieres. I wonder if they are writing in a 2nd kid for JJ or ignoring it. And her real life son plays her kid.

Well, that sucks. And I'm not sure if they can do anything to bring Brewster back, wasn't the most pleasant parting.

I'd say cast Anna Torv (Fringe).

Also, I would love for them to properly resolve the Elle character. I'd assume by now she's some kind of vigilante serial killer. :p

Getting Brewster back full-time isn't happening. She's been pretty adamant about wanting to move on and pursue comedy roles.

In fact, her new comedy pilot Grandfathered with John Stamos just got picked up for next season by FOX.

That would be okay with me.

I really wasn't expecting them to bring back Brewster (no matter how much I miss her on the show).
