Another great episode. I haven't bought any seasons of SVU on DVD yet. I am definitely buying this season.

I'll have to wait until The Shield and Deadwood have their seasons, but if I were to vote for the Best Drama this television season up to this point, I think I would have to cast my vote for SVU.

Interesting. I think this season hasn't been that fantastic. Don't get me wrong, of all the procedural shows SVU is probably the best, but there have been some overly-convoluted and silly plots this season. The lack of B.D. Wong as well as some awkward use of Mary Stuart Masterson haven't helped.

Last night's ep was pretty darn good, though, and it was good to see Cabot trap that guy from the stand.

Can someone tell me the end please? I had an extremely long day and had a hard time staying awake to see the end. Was Cabot really killed this time? All I remember from the ending was the crew having a celebration and waiting for Cabot to show up. Did she? Thanks.

Cartload 02-23-05 10:35 AM

No, she and the kid were being re-processed into the witness protection program. A.D. Skinner from the X-Files showed up and told them she said goodbye.

I was waiting for Alex to get shot by a sniper when she was in the safe house with Olivia. I was thinking what kind of safehouse has all those windows? :hscratch:

me too , especially standing next to a floor to ceiling plate glass window, at night with the lights on

Well, I've finally broken down and started watching this show, and it frustrates the hell out of me. They make idiotic decisions (i.e. extremely lazy writing or writers who think the audience is full of stupid people) all the time. A witness being 15 min late when the witness was shot at would never give rise to allowing the defendant off on his own recognizance in a murder case. Real cops would never have allowed themselves to be 15 min late - they'd get the witness to the courthouse and the injured person would go separately to the hospital. It seems like practically every week someone dies because the cops were "supposed to be watching" or "we'll protect her" or whatever. The judge releasing the prisoner because there was no "proof" of his witness tampering, then doing a 180 and allowing the stunt by the cops because the victim was her friend - ridiculous. I roll my eyes in frustration in their general direction.

But I'm still watching - why? I'm a tv addict. ;)

Damnit - I hope this doesn't come across like a threadcrap - I do watch the show and enjoy it some of the time - I just don't like how at least once per episode stupidity reigns supreme and a victim dies or a killer is set free.

mikehunt 02-23-05 05:19 PM

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm thinking the comment about cabot being her (the judge's) friend would have resulted in some sort of objection, even if it was just for show by the defense
and the late witness, at a minimum you call the DA's office and they send someone to the court house to tell the ADA to ask for a continuance due to the shooting

rotfl I was seriously scratching my head and asking myself .. what the fuck?

al_bundy 02-23-05 08:14 PM

my favorite was that elliot and olivia somehow knew she was alive

it would never happen since anytime more than one person knows something, it's not a secret. DEA would keep the fact that she lived so classified that only a few people would know.

mikehunt 02-23-05 08:47 PM

in the episode where she left they saw her after her "death"
I can't remember the exact details of that episode but I'm positive she was shown to be alive at the end of that episode

Manco 02-23-05 09:42 PM

Maybe I've been watching "The Wire" too much but it annoys me the way these cases come together so easily.I know they only got an hour to work with but geez! I don't buy how Cabot got that guy to lose his cool. He's a hardened IRA hitman. How does a guy like that survive so long and get the reps he's got losing his cool so easily?!

Yeah, she was. They thought she was dead, but then the met her at the very end right before she left.

Excellent episode, and an excellent season. Far and away my favorite of the L&O shows.

movieking 02-23-05 10:58 PM

Good episode, but I thought that it was pretty soon to bring Cabot back. It lessened the impact. It would have been great if she would have just shown up in an episode in a season or two out of the blue for some reason.

I thought that the kid did a great job.

Deftones 02-23-05 11:29 PM

Man, I miss her. :(

She was by far, the best ADA of any L&O show.

Good way to finally wrap up the storyline.

I wouldn't go that far (give me Jamie or Claire), but she was very good.

MrX 02-24-05 02:38 AM

I just watched it and thought it was very good and alot better then some of the recent episodes.

The safehouse was pretty funny:lol:

Goldberg74 02-24-05 07:28 AM

Cabot was back?!

I just thought that L&O:SVU just pulled another switcheroo on recasting someone in a different role... wasn't her name Emily and she was an Insurance Adjuster from Wisconson?

;) I'm only kidding. It was a great episode and I loved how she pushed that IRA guy's buttons and tripped him up in court. Its as if she was behind the ADA table again!

Rogue588 02-26-05 11:10 PM

Yes, i'm going to repeat some comments already made since I just watched the episode today.

This episode made me realize that I miss Alex. The "glass" safehouse was ridiculous. If i'm ever in a prediciment like that, I want to be in a concrete room with no windows and only one way in.

I was waiting for Skinner's big reveal at the end to be that Alex & the kid were killed. Thank god it wasn't. Hopefully we can get another appearance outta Steph since the honcho cabeza is still on the loose.

Also, I vaguely remember someone on SVU mentioning the life expectancy of an SVU cop being 4-5 years since they usually snap in some way [or something like that]. Think it'll happen? It's been SIX years now for Olivia and Stabler.

Also, not taking any shots at the thread creator for spoiling Steph's return by announcing it in the thread title [especially since NBC had taken care of that since the end of last week's episode], but wouldn't it have been great if her return had been a complete surprise? I know in today's intranet age it's tough to keep information secret, but i'm getting tired of the NETWORKS themselves spoiling shit. [The last "surprise" appearance that I would consider truly NOT being spoiled was George Clooney on Julianna's last ep of ER - but that was thanks to George and the show's creators doing it their way]. And i'm not just talking about the "Coming Next Week..." previews. Those are easily skippable. It's the promos that NBC [and others] run DURING THE WEEK while watching other shows that kills it too. Granted, a show that might not be doing that well in the ratings [ie Scrubs] could benefit from the re/appearance of a "special guest star", but L&O is supposedly having one of its best years.

On a lighter note, how hot does Mariska look in the new EW?

Yeah - it is certainly a problem. The Jimmy Smits appearance on NYPD Blue this season is another example of the problem.

The biggest :jawdrop: television moment for me was when Rosalind Shays fell down the elevator shaft in LA Law. I can't imagine NBC not promoting that in advance if LA Law were on today.

Law and Order: SVU 3-1-05

Wow, what an incredible episode. One of the best, if not the best, episodes of SVU I've seen.

Great perfromances from Merloni and Modine.

mikehunt 03-02-05 01:15 AM

DAMN IT PRIVATE JOKER, WTF DO YOU THINK THIS IS?

another missed chance for Law & Order to have an R. Lee Ermey cameo

lisadoris 03-02-05 07:18 AM

All I can say is wow. The final scene with was just heartbreaking.

dick_grayson 03-02-05 09:38 AM

that end had some nice editing. same old story for me, though. Meloni is struggling with his rage....yada, yada, yada.
