Same here. I tried both, but I deleted Dads after the cold open. At least Brooklyn Nine-Nine was moderately enjoyable even with all of the comedic clichés.

Re: Brooklyn Nine-Nine -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/13

I thought it was pretty good. Comedies usually start bad so I wasn't expecting it to be uproariously funny off the bat.

Dad's I debated whether I'd even bother giving it a shot. I literally hit stop and delete and deleted the season pass three seconds in. Heard it would suck, then heard the laugh track and that was it for me.

I liked it even though most of the jokes were in the previews. I'll watch again.
"Dads" was pretty bad though.

Dads - 2.1
This - 2.5
New Girl - 2.9
Mindy - 1.9

I hope Mindy picks up ratings wise, solid show.

Re: Brooklyn Nine-Nine -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/13

I enjoyed this. Samberg's chracter came off as less of a goof than he did in the commercials, which I think makes the show more sustainable over the long run. And Andre Braugher is always great. The rest of the cast all seemed fine. This wasn't a transcendent half hour of television, but it was pretty enjoyable and if they can sustain that level of enjoyment, I will stick with it.

Dads, I'll probably give another week or two on the strength of the cast (especially Martin Mull), but it's going to have to show improvement pretty quickly.

Dads was pretty terrible. I enjoyed B99.

Re: Brooklyn Nine-Nine -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/13

That was pretty good and funny. I laughed a few times.

"They used to call me Terry titties"

"Yes, I know because you used to have big titties"

I liked Jeffords descriptions of all the misfits.

Samberg was over the top, but I enjoyed Peralta and I loved Andre Braugher as the captain. The reveal that Holt is gay was an interesting twist.

Looks like this is an NBC produced show. I guess since Michael Schur from Parks and Rec is producing it and he probably has a deal with NBC.

This could be a fun little comedy. Let's see how it does next week. I wonder how Terry Crews is working on this and Expendables 3 simultaneously.

It is in fact a Universal/NBC produced show, just happens to be airing on Fox. NBC/Universal and Fox seem to do better with their produced shows on other networks (How I Met Your Mother on CBS (Fox), and House was on Fox (NBC))

Why were you looking forward to Dads? I seriously couldn't make it through the commercial.
My biggest laugh was Terry Crews blasting the mannequin followed by Andre Braugher saying manscaping in slow motion. Good enough to buy a few more weeks.

I liked the Disco strangler flashback with Holt:

Holt: "Hold it Disco strangler, put down the yo-yo and let the girl go."

I really like Giovanni Ribisi. I think he's great in all of his movies. I enjoy Seth Green as well. However, the show was pure crap.

Re: Brooklyn Nine-Nine -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/13

Dads was one of the worst pilots I've seen in years. The overbearing laugh track came straight out of the 1970s and its casting was a disaster.

However, this show was funny and fired on all cylinders. Samberg could get annoying in the long run but the set-up has potential with smart writing.

Liked the premise and the people. I'll be tuning in to see how it develops.

So Braugher is playing the gay straight man?

I wonder who thought the "find a film better than Citizen Kane" line was funny?

A little silly, but I enjoyed the premier.

I think this show might have some potential. We'll give it a few more episodes.

I enjoyed it. It brought me good solid laughs and feels like it could morph into a really funny show. I'm in.

Re: Brooklyn Nine-Nine -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/13

dads didn't even get its own thread, did it? lol... I was very disappointed in that one. The laugh track put me off in the first 15 seconds. The show just felt very amateur. Shame too, because I thought with the talent involved it had promise.

Brooklyn Nine Nine on the other hand was pretty good, and I'll be keeping the series recording.

B99 wasn't bad. I'll tune in a while longer.

But Dads was complete shit. Ribisi is much better than this. The Dads themselves were horrible.

I really liked the pilot and gave it a season pass. But I don't know if I enjoyed it because it's a good show or because I watched it after Dads, which is one of the worst shows I've ever sat through.

I agree. Excellent pilot, very funny. This had some real laughs coming from the entire cast.
