How Douchy Is This? (a commercial to watch a commercial)
So AMC has a new series starting next week Low Winter Sun. So I go to their website and there's a preview video to watch, which I click. And it starts with a commercial for some product!
No, I'm not going to watch a commercial so I can watch your commercial. Click.

Yea, search YouTube for any movie trailer or commercial. 99.9% sure you'll get an ad before you can watch the commercial.
No different.

The bottom line is that the studios and networks know that people now view trailers as a form of entertainment, not as an advertisement, so they can put another advert on front of it and get a little revenue.

Random tip: If you don't want youtube vids with ads in the middle of them (for longer videos), put "youtuberepeater" in the URL instead of youtube. Obviously the video will be on an infinite loop, but you can shut it off when you're done.

I have never clipped on a promo clip for anything--move or TV show. I had a DVR before most of you ever heard of one-- Replay TV, years before TIVO. I will not watch any commercial before any video on the internet. So this being the first time I've ever clicked on one and found that they wanted me to watch a commercial to watch a commercial I was surprised.
If not watching a commercial with greasy-faced Flo (to date I've maybe seen a total of 18 seconds of her) makes me out of touch--I take that as an honor.

I'm wondering how the astrofan has watched videos for the past 2 years without ads. I want to know his secret.

So you deliberately went online to watch a commercial but are now pissed because you found two commercials ... Yeah, that is douchy.

I use Ad Muncher and AdBlock (Chrome version). I didn't even know Youtube had ads until someone mentioned it in a video I was watching recently. The only video site that ever successfully hit me with an ad was Hulu, which is why I no longer use Hulu. I'd rather just wait and buy the shows than deal with ads.
