Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
In addition to TWC jacking up my monthly fees due to a promotion running out, I was told that they are not going to credit customers for the absence of KCBS or KCAL due to it being bundled with other basic cable channels. This is contrary to the recorded phone message one hears when calling them.
I returned a cable box, cancelled some premium movie channels, cancelled voicemail (which I never asked for in the first place). I hate this company! |
Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
I read an article where the refund was basically just a prorated refund for Showtime...

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
If this is STILL going on when the NFL starts, you would think enough would just ditch TWC all together

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
Doesn't that go both ways though? I'm sure the NFL will be pushing CBS for a settlement before the season starts as well.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
It's like the local WGN problem a year or two back with DTV. We actually lost a couple local broadcasts of the Hawks, but when it came time for Cubs season to start, they got their shit done. This will be resolved by the first Sunday of the season.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
some cities that have Time Warner like Erie PA, wasn't affected at all! for some reason

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
We have CBS here but no NBC. It's been that way for about a month now. In our area that's the TWC feud.

I appreciate they are not backing down.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
I appreciate they are not backing down until my cable company decides this is a good idea.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
So... giving out rabbit ears makes more business sense than just charging customers a buck or two more a month? Ooooooookay.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
...and then Disney/ABC does it, then Fox, then NBC, then CW

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
Any news or updates now that it's almost September?
|
Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
Nope. i did find it funny that Time Warner Cable is one of the sponsors of the US Open, which airs on CBS

Then we should hear something. |
Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
It's weird, I have Brighthouse Cable Systems and while we have CBS, our Showtime channels have all been taken away since all of this started.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
We had TWC when they decided to cut off Showtime..or whatever channel Dexter is on during the final season. People in the house were pretty mad, but TWC has a monopoly on this area. We finally found out we can get Dish here, so went for that instead. They aren't allowed to have their internet here for 5 years though since TWC also has a monopoly on that. I didn't know CBS was cut until I went on to catch an episode I missed and they told me no. Nice TWC, your quality already sucks and you're over priced...

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
After many years with TW, I finally went with FiOS last year. I've been very happy with my decision so far.

I cannot wait for Fios to come to my area. TWC agreed to pay off Verizon in order to slow down their expansion. It's such a sham that the FCC is owned by these cable companies. I cannot believe my bill went UP this month even with the "discount" for not having Showtime and CBS.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
My bill went up as well, even though I bought my own cable modem to remove their rental fee. They said I was on a promo even though I don't recall what they are talking about. My base package price went up $5 and the DVR service fee went from $5 to $13.

Re: Time Warner DROPS CBS/Showtime (for now)
same here. sons of bitches raised my basic internet by 10 dollars. will have to attempt to renegotiate this. they have a monopoly where i am as well.
how can a free market be introduced into the cable market? what is preventing other companies from entering? |

how can a free market be introduced into the cable market? what is preventing other companies from entering? It's also why AT&T and Verizon have both basically stopped their efforts to expand FiOS and UVerse. They don't feel there's as much money to be made in a wired world as there is in Wireless. That's the way the world is headed, wired technology is slowly dying. If there is to be competition, it'll be there. |
