Re: Longmire - Season Two Discussion Thread (Debuts May 27th)

I have mixed feelings about the finale. I'm assuming Branch will live, but I didn't need the Vic thing to drag on in to another season. Henry getting arrested was a shock--he's my favorite character on the show. It's just that with SOOO long inbetween seasons, so many cliffhangers are kind of annoying (assuming it is coming back, and if it didn't it'd be way more annoying).

As Warner Horizon Television’s LONGMIRE heads towards its season two finale next Monday, the penultimate episode hit a season high last night (Monday, August 19, 2013, at 10/9c on A&E) among its key Adults 25–54 demo, posting a 1.16 rating and delivering 1.382 million viewers in the demo (Nielsen, Live+SD)

Last night’s episode also delivered the show’s best performance of the season since its season two premiere on May 27 among both Total Viewers with 4.122 million and Adults 18–49 with an 0.79 rating and 997,000 viewers in the demo (Nielsen, Live+SD)

In its second season, LONGMIRE remains the most-watched scripted series on A&E among Total Viewers

Season to date in its new Monday 10/9c time period, LONGMIRE has improved A&E’s performance year-to-year by up to +312% in some categories (Nielsen, Most Current: Live+SD plus Live+7 where available):

Averaging 4.984 million Total Viewers, up +312% versus A&E’s performance in the same time period during the comparable time frame last year (1.211 million)

Averaging 1.774 million viewers Adults 25–54, up +166% versus A&E’s performance in the same time period during the comparable time frame last year (666,000)

Averaging 1.345 million viewers Adults 18–49, up +111% versus A&E’s performance in the same time period during the comparable time frame last year (638,000)

Kick ass finale.

LONGMIRE continues to rank as the most-watched scripted series in A&E history among Total Viewers.

And season two of LONGMIRE posted year-to-year gains over season one among Adults 18–49 and 25–54.

Among Total Viewers, the season two finale hit a season-best 4.419 million viewers (the show’s third-largest total viewer number ever), up +7% versus 4.122 million last week (Nielsen, Live+Same Day).

LONGMIRE averaged 5.373 million Total Viewers per week during season two, about on par with last year (5.458 million in season one), despite moving to a new night. Note: We expect the 5.373 million to increase based upon Live+7 figures when delayed viewing data is available in the coming weeks. (Nielsen, Most Current=Live+Same Day plus Live+7 where available)

Among Adults 18–49, the LONGMIRE season finale posted a 0.89 rating and 1.127 million viewers in the demo, up +13% versus last week’s 997,000 viewers in the demo (Nielsen, Live+Same Day).

The show averaged 1.453 million A18–49 viewers per week during season two, up +6% from 1.372 million in season one. (Nielsen, Most Current=Live+Same Day plus Live+7 where available)

Among Adults 25–54, last night’s season two finale delivered a 1.22 rating and 1.463 million viewers in the demo, up +6% versus last week’s 1.382 million viewers (Nielsen, Live+Same Day).

The show averaged 1.920 million A25–54 viewers per week during season two, up from 1.913 million in season one. (Nielsen, Most Current=Live+Same Day plus Live+7 where available)

Fantastic episode but I wonder if we have met who paid to have Walt's wife killed. Wasn't there a line a few shows ago about how she was part of a group that tried to stop the casino from going up (or some cause like that)?

Yeah. During the election debate it was brought up by someone in the audience.

Here is who I’m going to guess was behind Walt’s wife murder.

Spoiler:
It will turn out to be Jacob and the one that killed the meth head will turn out to be the one that faked his suicide.

Also it will be so sweet when Detective Fales gets put in his place. That speech at the end was so self righteous and smug. Can't wait for him to have to eat crow.

Same here. I really find it hard to believe a major city police officer would devote this much attention to a junkie being murdered. Or for that matter, be allowed to by his superiors.

Although... damn that was unbelieavably stupid of Henry to keep two of the dead dude's teeth and in his bar no less. That makes the whole case kinda open and shut right there.

Yeah. I thought Henry mentioned a few episodes back to Walt that there was nothing Fales could do to tie him to the murder in Denver. I know he gave an alibi of visiting someone while there, but maybe I am misremembering what exactly was said that episode.

Awesome news. Like the show a lot. It's definitely an underrated procedural.

Unfortunately, A&E cancelled The Glades, which aired the same night and that ended on a pretty fucking big cliffhanger.

OMG that sucks for Glades fans. Will they at least say who shot Jim?

But great news on Longmire.

Big for Longmire.

But that is just messed up for us Glades viewers I hope Passmore and Sanchez find success in other shows.
I'm going to guess that filming had ended shortly after the first ep began airing so the producers had no idea that the ratings were slumping as the season progressed. The show was taking a big gamble with that cliffhanger.
