Wiig is too over the top with her portrayal of Lucille from the 80s. It's like a caricature that she would do on SNL. Not a Rogen fan either. Regardless, great to have it back!

If it was a "trial" version like ones you can use online, it is free... Thus a watermark would show...Which in itself is a funny joke if you think about it


Watched the first ep and a half before being too tired to stay awake, will watch through it all again this morning... Loving it so far

Fans of Netflix’s heavily hyped return of “Arrested Development” early Sunday were baffled by text watermarks, supposedly for video piracy software, in flashback scenes — a joke that misfired for some.

Watermarks with the text “Showstealer Pro Trial Version,” which appear in footage from the show’s run on Fox, are a prank pulled by the show’s producers. “Arrested Development” was canceled by Fox in 2006 after three seasons.

The streaming video company made all 15 episodes of “Arrested Development” season four available at 12:01 a.m. Pacific on Sunday, May 26. The premiere had garnered significantly more buzz than any Netflix original to date, and execs have counting on the skein to prop up second-quarter numbers.

A Netflix spokeswoman confirmed that the watermarks are intentional.

But many users didn’t get — or appreciate — the joke. Numerous ”Arrested Development” fans took to Twitter to complain about the watermarks immediately following the episode dump:

Did Netflix have to steal old Arrested Development scenes to put in the new season? There's a digital watermark 2:40 into the 1st episode...

i hope that watermark on Arrested Development ep.2 is intended. HAHAHA. i don't even care right now.

Edit: I feel like this is so densely layered and complex that even a lot of the die-hards are gonna find it inaccessible and get turned off. But it works. Even more than previous Arrested Development seasons this one stands as a complete work. It makes past episodes seem almost conventionally episodic.

They're filed along with the first 53 episodes. I finished my rewatch earlier today and it brought me to a rating screen with no option to watch the next episode only to find episode 54 queued up at 12:01 PST.

All in all I watched all 15 episodes without Netflix giving me any problems of any kind. Worked like a charm.

I can't sleep but I'm too tired to really discuss the episodes in-depth, plus I don't wanna spoil stuff for people anyway, but I'll say this:

You'll wanna watch through the credits on episode 15.

I watched the first 2 episodes before I got too tired to concentrate.

Loved the opening episode with Michael. :lol: at GOB covering up who he was sleeping with and giving Michael that pill. The stuff about how the housing market crashed and how it ruined Michael's investment was awesome. :lol: at the tumbleweed and the dead postman.

I liked the explanation of how Michael ended up at UCI. :lol: at Face Block.

The cameos in episode 2 were great too. Slattery and Mary Lynn Rajskub. :lol: at her using gestures and having subtitles. That obnoxious Asian lady was funny too.

The flashbacks with Wiig and Rogen were weird, yet interesting.

And of course Ron Howard's narration was great.

I don't know why I didn't start rewatching the first three seasons sooner but just started season one last night. Made it through the first thirteen episodes. They go by pretty fast so if I watch them over the next couple nights or so I should be able to catch up quickly.

Just started it and finished episode 1. That was some classic shit right there. From insulting Mexicans, not tipping black people, and University of Phoenix - it's gotten off to a great start!

Well that was absolutely fantastic. I loved how many of the side characters they could fit into this story, we got Bob Loblaw, Stan/Sally Sitwell, Tony Wonder, the gay cops, the literal doctor and so many more. The final episode was my favorite of the bunch, the joke with the neighborhood and the kid jumping in the pool had me laughing for a couple min, had to pause in order to recover.

I'm gonna go enjoy this day till I pass out, then start watching it again (one episode at a time spread out over a couple weeks).

Episode 3 focusing on Lindsay and Tobias was great. Very funny. Interesting seeing Ed Helms in a small part.

:lol: at seeing some of the cast of Outsourced during the India segment.

:lol: at Lindsay's being suckered by those vendors.

I kind of like how these episodes are focused on certain characters.
