Well.. they're advancing the Kono story and they mention Danny's museum gf, tho it seems like they are trying their best to drop her. And they're trying to advance the Mom's story with that ridiculous Burn Notice arc. Glad it seems to be wrapping up in the season finale. I hope.

Re: Hawaii Five-O -- "He welo 'oihana" -- 5/13/13

Great episode of Leverage

I mean H50.

That whole cloak and dagger sequence with Steve and his Mom was so absurd, yet it was entertaining.

at Kono going in with no backup to take on that Warehouse full of Yakuza.

I am so ready for Steve Mom, Wo-Fat being Steve's half brother?, Kono's Yakuza boyfriend arcs to end. Some of the self contained episodes have been good, but the serialized arcs have been a cluster fuck.

I hope they start season 4 with a fresh outlook. Just have the H50 team solve tough cases that HPD can't handle. None of this ridiculous stuff.

The teaser for next week said the team of 4 becomes a team of 3.

My prediction, either Kono gets fired or goes to jail for the Adam shit. No way they kill her off.

That's a total **** move. You can't even text the poor bastard that you're not flying in so he doesn't have to shlep to the airport.

The Kono storyline wears on me. It's ridiculous that she looks dejected every time her boyfriend engages in questionable activity. As a member of the elite 5-0 team, she has no business dating him in the first place. And then she loudly breaks into a warehouse probably filled with enemy combatants?

I swear they only keep her around because she's the only team member that knows how to use Windows 8.

That was fun, aside from the Burn Notice ripoff. All in all it was a H50/Burn Notice/White Collar crossover with Treat Williams in the mix.

I thought the same, but then again, it's not like a big drive to the airport on an island.

Amen to that. The stand alones carry the show. The arcs are ridiculously trite and annoying to no end.

You've never had to travel from Hawaii Kai to the airport during rush hour have you? Hawaii is ranked 2nd in worst traffic this year, they were ranked #1 but was unseeded by Los Angeles.

I stand corrected then.

We'll just say Danny can turn on his sirens and skip traffic.

Easier would have been to use Kamekona's helicopter. Traffic there sucks ass, sirens or not.

Yeah, I've heard Honolulu traffic is terrible.

I bet Chin Ho leaves next week. Since the death of his wife, he's been floundering. Someone please remind me where the name Five-O comes from. I guess it doesn't refer to a team of five people since CBS touted them as a team of 4 currently. I thought perhaps Steve's girlfriend became the fifth member after that one girl left (and can now be found on Chicago Fire) and that other one was killed while looking for someone close to her (her husband?).

No way Chin leaves IMO. Daniel Dae Kim is the 2nd biggest star on the show behind O'Loughlin.

The most expendable actor on this show is Grace Park. She could easily be replaced by Michelle Borth on the 5-O team if need be next season.

No idea if there's any truth to this, but the 5-0, according to te internets, could allude to Hawaii being the 50th state.

And please, God, don't jettison Grace Park from the show. She's the series' best eye candy and I've had a major crush on her since Battlestar Galactica.

The LA Times says, "Hawaii is the 50th state, and that's where the original title was born. But it's also true that it was the series that led to the creation of the police slang "5-0."

With Five-0 being relegated to Friday nights next fall, it looks like CBS is trying to kill it off.

Are the ratings that bad? Or is it just too expensive to produce?

H50 has a syndication deal with TNT. It kicks in next summer. CBS owns the show as well, it's not going anywhere. The more episodes they produce, the more money they get from TNT.

CBS is getting over $2M per episode from TNT. Like I said, it's not going anywhere.

Re: Hawaii Five-O -- "He welo 'oihana" -- 5/13/13

IIRC, during S01E01 or S01E02, Steve talks about how his dad called them 5-0s to make the family feel more at home on Hawaii. Park's character said the team should be called that.

It is an unofficial name, making it all the funnier when they kick down doors shouting 5-0. Imagine if your local police force called themselves the Bennies and went around saying "No one move - the Bennies are here!".

I'm not complaining, I like the show, goofy as it is - it is consistently entertaining, low-stress entertainment.

Why the talk about who leaves? Does someone have to go?
