Yup, he killed the baker's son at the behest of Joffrey and ended up on her "To Kill List" as a result.

That squire is quite the lady pleaser (or has a huge rod) - loved the scene when the whores refused payment and they wanted to take notes :)

I actually thought last week's episode was better, but this one was really good too. Glad to see the season's narrative take shape.

I loved seeing Kingslayer's hand get butchered off. What a scumbag that guy is. He certainly earned it.

Dany's storyline is the one I am most excited about. She clearly has some plan with the dragon. After Qarth, I don't see Dany trusting anyone, or caring about anything but her ultimate objective and using whoever it takes to get there.

I fully expect (I'm guessing here, as I haven't read the books) for the dragon to escape & torch all of Astapor.

Haven't read the books, but with Lannister getting his hand chopped off, Breann will now have to help him out and her oath will be questioned. It was Lannister that prevented her from getting raped and he lost a hand over it. She owes him.

Yeah, the viewing party I was with said that it was a huge rod, too. It was also hinted at by the way the seen segued to a horse wailing. Everyone laughed. lol

Dany's rapid negotiation with Kraznys was like watching a speed chess match. Per next week's preview...

"Is it done then?"

this scene will resolve the situation.

Well, it looks like she will have acquired the army, given the dragon, and will probably use the army she just bought to destroy Kraznys and Astaphor. Then she'll take the dragon back. (all assumption)

I assume Dany's dragon does not get stuck in Astapor permanently. I really hope not anyway. Hoping it just scorches the whole place once it's old enough to break free on its own.

Also, I don't know if this would really qualify as spoiler but please answer in spoiler if it is....how intelligent are these dragons? Along the same lines as the dire wolves? Smarter?

Spoiler:

I don't recall it really being discussed in the books

To be fair, he could have just shut up after he convinced them she would be worth money.

Exactly what came to my mind (True Blood reference). Since the feeling about the song seems to be 90% negative, hope they'll reconsider doing this next season (hopefully, we won't be subjected to any similar distractions in future episodes this season, either). Would be nice if they would replace the end credits song with generic soundtrack music or just replay the song as sung by the Brotherhood.

I finally figured out why the episodes seem a little disjointed (although things are starting to come together this season after the catch-up early eps.) vs. reading the books. When reading, I would sometimes cheat & skip ahead to continue a particular character's story (had to be careful, though, since occasionally a reference would be made to a prior event that I hadn't yet read). Can't do that with the show. Season One was much easier for novices such as myself since so many characters (Starks, Lannisters) were occupying the same space...and the additional characters hadn't yet appeared.

Agree that they seem to be speeding through Book 3. Hope that doesn't mean that there will be a lot of padding next season. Wouldn't be bothered if they incorporated some of Books 4-5 in latter half of next season, but that ain't gonna happen what with the big events coming up.

Still wondering where Martin is with the writing of Book 6.

I don't like the Hold Steady, but for some reason it didn't bother me here. I guess I was just excited about the lyrics.

It was nice to see that self-impressed jackass 'talk' himself in to that last scene. Loved the way it played out. I've been waiting for his snide, smug ass to get taken down a notch since the show started.

Solid episode.

The end music sucked and they need to never do that again. Some moron came up with the 'lets make it hip for the young people' idea or some stupid crap. It was a mistake.

My wife was sympathetic toward Jaime losing his hand. I reminded her of when he pushed Bran out the window. Sympathy revoked... :)

It was just nice to FINALLY have somebody not fall for his "I can make you rich" crap.

I agree with the other non-book readers that figure Dany will use her new army (and her inside "man") to destroy the city.

Yes. And that's exactly what my post and picture was articulating ;) You'll notice he pushed Bran with the left hand but cut off the right, hence: no justice!

Nice little continuity here between last season and now

The credit song didn't bother me as much as most of you guys. I found it kinda funny actually. A shocking moment quickly broken up by The Bear and Maiden Fair punk style instead of playing a song that is sad because who really felt sad for Jamie. Seems like a lot of people are glad that happened to him. Side note: I want to re-edit that end song though with The Wire ominous credit score. That always pops in my head when a show ends in a shocking way.

Great episode and then you finish it with a song played with modern instruments? Are you fucking kidding me? Took me right out of the mood and ruined an amazing final scene.

The end song felt like the credits for the Sopranos to me (haven't seen TB in awhile). While i liked this version of the song, it was jarring and did take me out of the GOT mindset. In contrast i thought the National's version of Castamere worked very well and was in the mood of this show overall. I hope they keep having bands do songs from the show, but keep it a little less anachronistic feeling.

Does House Stark have the worst spies in all of Westros? It's been well over a year and Robb and Cat still think that the Lanisters have Arya. Can't someone give them the 411? Will they really have to wait until Littlefinger's wedding to Cat's crazy-ass sister to find out she's fled King's Landing and on the run? (No book spoilers please, just saying it seems pretty implausible that they still don't know anything)

I can only hope that they don't ruin any more episodes with modern music. And even better would be if they would remove them from the DVDs.

If they had spies within the castle, then Ned wouldn't have been ambushed in the throne room. Littlefinger lied to Cat's face in Renly's camp when he said that Arya was there. It's all they have to go on.

Maybe if enough people object, they'll consider what you (and I) suggested.

However, my wife suggested something I hadn't thought of...she thought that just stone silence would have worked well following the shocking final scene.

Sure would be simple enough to do for the DVD.

Wonder if a bonus feature on the disc will be Tips from Podrick (AKA The Dragon)?

My thoughts exactly. I think she'll finally start to show she's the last dragon. But this show has a knack for fucking assumptions right in the ass.
