As far as these once- and semi-famous competition shows go, this one seems the most bizarre. On the other hand, it's the only one that I might actually watch. Who wouldn't want to see lanky Kareem, pudgy Louie, or teeny-tiny Keshia realize that water does indeed hurt?

I'm intrigued, so I'll check it out. I think Fox tried a version, simply titled Celebrity Diving, in the fall and it tanked immediately.

When I kept seeing the title advertized, I actually assumed it'd be a remake of the Daryl Hannah movie. I would have prefered that.

I am glad ABC is not a partner with the NFL since they televise this crap.

Actually watched this show and it was pretty dreadful. Two of the best three were in the bottom two, since the judges decided to reward Kareem and Louie with undeserved points because of the difficulties they had to overcome to dive (height and weight). Not a fan of Lawrence as host, or either one of the judges.

Pretty much what movieking said. Keisha had the best form and was sent packing. It's pretty clear it's not a diving competition but a popularity/heartstring contest.

And I agree, Keisha got screwed because she didn't have some heartwarming story to tell, which is pretty lame.

Those 30 foot drops do look pretty intimidating.

Yeah okay... but couldn't I watch the entire episode in about 3 minutes of clips of the dives once you blip out all the babble and set ups? I just can't see sitting through an entire hour for 3 minutes of actual diving.

You ever watch diving during the Olympics? It's not like they are lined up on the ladder.

What are they supposed to do? Walk them up and jump them off one right after the other and be done in 15 minutes? Have you never seen a TV show before?

This isn't my cup of tea at all but of course they are going to spread out the dives.

This show sucks but since I'm the commissioner of a Splash fantasy league (yes, really) I suppose I'll stick with it.

I'm really not criticizing the WAY it is being done but that it is being done at all. Stupid idea that has already failed on another network. That you somehow consider these questions a logical response to my criticism of the concept is equally silly.

The premiere got a good rating. You were questioning the need for the back story when all you want was the dives. I was pointing out that is unreasonable to expect the show to have nothing but diving.

Such a shame they did not get Nicole Eggert in her prime when she was in shape.
