The Wire.

To me it's speaks volumes that so many of these HBO shows are fantastic. Simply put, these are some of the best shows in the history of television.

And this decision wasn't close for me.

I'd say Carnivale, then True Blood. I haven't watched any of the others on the poll, but I do intend on watching Game of Thrones, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Rome and Six Feet Under at some point. Maybe even Deadwood one day.

Went with The Wire but two of my other top 5 shows are on this list: SFU and The Sopranos which made this a difficult choice.

Honestly there should be two options, one that finished its series AND one that with the show that is still going.

This made me realize that I never finished the third season. As much as I loved the first two seasons, there was something about knowing it ended prematurely that kept me from riding it out.

I voted for Rome ... should have thought about Band of Brothers and Carnivale.

Among the three that ended early (Rome, Deadwood, and Carnivale) I would say Carnivale is the one I would have most liked to see where it was going.

Soporanos had some great moments, but was severely overhyped (particularly by the time it ended).

I don't think I've seen any of the others. I'm anxious to watch Game of Thrones though.

Without a doubt Six Feet Under wins. The Wire is amazing, but sadly I did not care for the final season at all.

Okay, who voted for TRUE BLOOD? Talk about a series that has totally jumped the shark.

I voted for THE SOPRANOS, but I have never watched THE WIRE, so given the poll results here, I need to check it out (I own it, but it's still in shrink wrap).

That may have been me. Liked I posted, the only show I've seen more than 2 episodes of is True Blood. (Guess I'm more of a Showtime guy.) I may have voted Other for Carnivale though, but I think I voted for True Blood since I thought it wouldn't get many votes. And it's tough to compare 2 seasons of Carnivale to 5 season of True Blood...Carnivale was better overall, but True Blood has given me more entertainment in total.

So what order should I watch the following shows in? The Wire, Rome, Six Feet Under, GoT, and Boardwalk Empire.

I did give up on Newsroom after a bunch of episodes.

I never saw it, but wasn't there a lot of love for John from Cincinatti when it aired?

No mention of Entourage? The only ones I've ever watched are Soporanos & Entourage. Liked them both but Soporanos had the better story. Entourage had characters making too many dumb decisions.

Carnivale and GoT are my favorites, but I also love Boardwalk Empire and Six Feet Under. True Blood is my guilty pleasure. It's soooo bad now, but I still watch it for Alexander Skarsgard.

I would have had a hard time deciding between Deadwood, The Wire, and Rome (with the edge going to Rome) a couple of years ago but now with Game of Thrones it is a no brainer.
