I thought that also, I rationalized it off as if the person he was theoretically talking to (FBI etc) got pissed because he was holding out or whatever, that would be a easy way to burn him.

As for the girl, if he liked her, maybe he lets her live by not saying anything, knowing he is dead either way. I can't imagine the KGB was big on 2nd chances once even a hint of suspicion was cast on someone.

I liked most of the episode, but the thing with the guy and kids is probably the worst thing I've seen since Kim and the cougar.

I dont know if it was just me, but growing up in the 80's, this scene reminded me of all the child kidnapping stories of the time.

Yeah, that was the 80s. Life was like that. I'm taking about the guy and kids scene.

I thought it felt pretty realistic to the time. Hitchhiking and those types of situations were really common back then.
