Not as great as previous episodes, but still interesting. I have a hard time believing the Soviets really thought Haig was leading a coup, but that was a crazy day, so who knows? Hope it's doing okay in the ratings

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I like the conflict growing more and more between Phillip and Elizabeth. Phillip seems to understand more of what to do and what not to do. I also don't know what to think about the FBI guy telling Elizabeth and Phillip so much about the assassination attempt. He could have been trying to draw them out. Next week's ep looks really good.

I'll never forget that day, and the daughter's reaction to the coverage was so dead on - they just kept playing it over and over (and something that was later spoofed by SNL when they did their Buckwheat-assassination). Thank god there was no cable news back then. They would have made it 10x worse.
Anyhow, it was cool seeing the Russian reaction between the spies and the innocent secretary. It truly reminded me of how much of a fool Haig was that day. I can't blame Russians for wondering if it was an attempted coup.

FX has decided The Americans is red-hot, and renewed the retro spy drama for Season 2, just four episodes into its freshman run.
“The Americans has quickly established itself as a key part FX’s acclaimed drama line-up,” FX president John Landgraf said in a statement. “Executive Producers Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields and Graham Yost and their collaborators are telling riveting and deeply emotional stories and the performances of Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Noah Emmerich and the entire cast are simply outstanding. The show is truly worthy of its widespread critical acclaim and we are confident that its quality will continue to yield a robust and passionate audience.”
Season 1, airing Wednesdays at 10/9c, has nine episodes remaining, with the finale set for May 1.

This was an awesome episode. The Phillip character has always been great, but Elizabeth is growing on me. She's like the "male" character of the couple.
Excited to read the news!
