Re: Vikings -- "Dispossessed" -- 3/17/13
Vikings is a very poor man's version of Game of Thrones, except without the huge cast, great FX, explicit nudity, and better writing. Take those things away and sure, it's just like Game of Thrones.

Renewed for a second season today. 10 episodes. I guess nobody watched yet because of Game of Thrones and Walking Dead. I admit, I'm behind as well, but glad to see it coming back.

Good news. I watched it also and I am glad they are moving the story along. I was afraid it was going to be a whole season of will the Earl turn on Ragnar or not. I also liked that they didn't turn Ragnar into an invincible character.

kind of expected that to happen as I doubted Gabriel Byrne would have stayed for the entire season. Ragnar's boy is one bad seed. Anyway, looking forward to more raids!

Re: Vikings -- "Burial of the Dead" -- 4/07/13
Was a little late to this show, but I caught up and was pleasantly surprised. I had no idea what to expect in terms of production value for a series on the History channel, but it seems pretty damn solid; good story, good acting. I found the Floki character a bit annoying at first, but he's grown on me.
And I have minimal knowledge of the actual history so even if they are taking liberties I'm blissfully unaware and thus can't nitpick! For anyone familiar with the history are they loosely trying to follow some of the reality or is it just complete fiction set in that time period?
I assume the lack of comments in many of these threads is due to the sheer volume of stuff on Sundays? Or have people given up on it? (I skimmed a few of the past threads and couldn't tell).

There is something weird about Ragnar brother... when it seems like he is going to turn on Ragnar he doesnt. Probably building up to something later on in the series.

^ Agree. What was the line he muttered while Ragnor gave him a hug? Something about it now being more difficult for them to be equals.

This has definitely been a pleasant surprise. The History channel has been turning out better dramatic fare in the past year.
