Re: The Following -- "Chapter Two" -- 1/28/13
That was a big improvement from the pilot, which is what I was hoping for.
If they keep it up at this level, I will definitely commit to the season. |

At least what's-her-name (I'll always think of her as Lena Basilone) is more believable as an FBI agent than the previous chick.

Another pretty solid show - they do a pretty good job with setting the tension and like someone mentioned earlier the flashbacks were well done and fit in well.
This is just going to be one of the shows where you have to look past the coincidences and alternating competence and incompetence - it seems like the show is going to have to rely on that. |

The only part I didn't understand was why they would give Carroll a book near the end.

I'm wondering if it was Weston that was wearing the Poe mask. He was at the house with Ryan, and wasn't seen anywhere until after Ryan was knocked out.
And the scene at the end where Parker passed the book to Carroll was there to make us think she was part of his cult to take suspicion off of Weston. |
Re: The Following -- "Chapter Two" -- 1/28/13
Good episode with some suspenseful moments. I think I liked this one better than the original pilot. Yes, it's not a perfect show, but I think it's pretty good so far and Purefoy is just creepily magnetic when he's on the screen.
So which of the federal agents is a secret member of the following to be revealed near the end of the season? |
Re: The Following -- "Chapter Two" -- 1/28/13
So how long before they reveal that the "ex-wife" is really still in love with Carroll (awful choice to name an infamous serial killer, btw) and the relationship with Bacon's character is a complete ruse?
A drinking game could easily be played if one drinks at every single utterance of Poe's name in each episode. I suspect by the end of the season I will never want to hear the word "nevermore" ever again. |

Maybe they want us to think she is in the cult. I think it is a red herring though.

Re: The Following -- "Chapter Two" -- 1/28/13
I thought they did a smooth transition between the lead agents, although you know Bacon's going to be pulling all kinds of crazy shit this season that should get everybody fired.
When Mike Anderson tucked the gun into Bacon's waistband, I was hoping that he'd tap his butt at the same time. For luck. |
Re: The Following -- "Chapter Two" -- 1/28/13
I agree with those here who think the FBI agent at the end is a red herring. The writers can have her flip flop back and forth between good and bad and the reason will be - "to flush out the other side, gain his trust, etc"
It is a fun show to watch but one truly has to check their brain at the door. Come on - we are supposed to believe that Carolls henchmen have the stealth, wealth, and skill of Batman and can sneak into secure houses or plan for months to set up an elaborate take down. It's a good show, but I can see it becoming a chore to watch / sitting on my DVR for a while. |
Re: The Following -- "Chapter Two" -- 1/28/13
Enjoying the show so far, but I really wish the wouldn't show the cast photo like above. It gives you too strong a hint as to who the main characters are. They should've just shown Hardy and Caroll. That would keep us guessing as to how many characters in the cult are to be revealed.
I kinda wished they kept the FBI agent from last week. Is this one of those pilot switches where some contract thing didn't work out with the actor or there was some conflict with some other show? Oh, and VERY happy to see Natalie Zea back on TV. |

Am I the only one finding everyone in this show to be beyond stupid? I get being duped once, maybe twice, by secret cultists, by why in the hell are we leaving the ex-wife alone with only one guard? There should be a completely redundant oversight network of officers watching each other. Bacon yelled at two guys on a coffee break but is cool with Scrawny McRecruit watching the bedroom by himself?
Also, can no one scream in this world? The sorority girl could have had an army around her in seconds, as could have the ex-wife (lucky for her she was needed for more than a plaything) http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/chi-omega-murders/ So not as far fetched as you might think. I agree on your point about redundancy, I made that comment to my wife myself. Can't trust anyone now, aside from Bacon. |
