Correct. To say Mandalorians are simply bounty hunters is inaccurate. That is not the case at all.

Jango stole his armor. And Boba copied his father. This is explained in The Clone Wars. There are many articles you can find that explains things if you didn’t watch that.

Highly suggest anyone who hasn’t watched The Clone Wars to watch it. Great show. Really gives me a better appreciation of the prequels and a lot of those characters.

Bear in mind that it takes some time to pick up and to get used to the animation style though. I would say it starts to get really good around midway through the first season.

And multiple characters from that show will be appearing in this season.

well that sucks. So if we didn’t watch The Clone Wars animated series, we will barely know who the fuck these characters are? I had no idea about Jango and Boba, but it sounds interesting. Perhaps I’ll give a look at TCW series sometimes, but it certainly won’t be in the one day before S2 premiere of The Mandalorian. I hope they somewhat explain who these new characters are...

I’m sure it’s a situation where it helps if you’ve seen The Clone Wars, but I doubt it’s entirely required viewing. The main character I know being introduced in season two of The Mandalorian is Ashoka.

^ ok, thanks. Help me understand though. I saw on Disney+, there’s a 7 season series and then a 1 hour 40 minute movie. Which comes first and does one have anything to do with other? Is the animated movie after events of series, but is still called The Clone Wars with Ashoka as Anakin’s apprentice or something?

The Clone Wars Movie comes before the series. The movie isn’t very good, but it’s basically the first episodes. After The Clone Wars series is Rebels.

Re: The Mandalorian -- Star Wars -- News, rumors, etc. -- possible spoilers

So basically just watch the 7 season series called The Clone Wars (Disney+ lists the 7 season series as “The Clone Wars: The Final Season”, for some reason) as I see that’s highly rated?

No, the movie is essentially episodes 1-4. If you’re going to watch the series, you should watch the movie too.

but why would I watch a not so great movie if I’m going to watch the series from beginning? Wouldn’t that be totally repetitive?

Jesus Christ... the movie takes place before the show. It’s the introduction.

Re: The Mandalorian -- Star Wars -- News, rumors, etc. -- possible spoilers

You just said it’s essentially the first 4 eps of series and not so good. Why would I want to watch a not so good movie that is essentially the first 4 eps of a highly rated long running series? And how bout you calm down with the attitude dex? I think you can easily see the confusion when all these things are called The Clone Wars.

Re: The Mandalorian -- Star Wars -- News, rumors, etc. -- possible spoilers

Because it is the beginning of the story. The movie consists of what would’ve been episodes 1-4 of the series. Then comes the series. Episode 1 of the series is not anything in the movie. It’s not the same content.

Note that The Clone Wars series is out of chronological order on Disney+. Might want to do a quick search to see the right viewing order before you partake in that.

Re: The Mandalorian -- Star Wars -- News, rumors, etc. -- possible spoilers

I watched the Clone Wars movie and didn’t care for it. I tried the Clone Wars series and have never been able to get into it. Star Wars Rebels however is pretty fantastic! I had put off trying it for so long because I thought it would be aimed at younger kids but it plays really well for adults too. It’s definitely my favorite animated series so far!

The first 2 in the photo is the series and the movie. 3-5 is a different Clone Wars cartoon that’s not canon, so you can ignore those. Also, season 7 is concurrent with Episode 3 and one could certainly watch episode 3 between seasons 6 and 7. Then Rebels continues the stories of several Clone Wars characters which will tie into Mandalorian.
