This is one of those shows I remember trying to watch as a kid when it first came on (I remember being enticed by the commercials saying how it was for mature audiences) and I just didn't get it. Vague recollections of creepy scenes from the movie. Knew just enough about the show to enjoy its parodies on Simpsons and SNL. But I have yet to give it a shot. It's on Netflix, right? Will have to go for it in the next few months.

So basically this season will be as long as season one of TP which was the two hour pilot plus 7 episodes.

Wow.
Excited -- never thought it ever happen -- but still such, a long way away.
I'm sure he'll try to bring back and many people as possible as it makes sense storywise, save for Jack Nance (Pete), Don Davis (the Major), Dan O'Herlihy (Andrew) and Lara Flynn Boyle's face (Donna) who have passed. (Hell, just get Moira Kelly again.)
The tough one is Bob since Frank Silva died in the mid-90s.
Piper Laurie (Catherine) and Everett McGill (Big Ed) are retired, but we do know Lynch and McGill had reconnected lately. Gotta have Big Ed back.

Holy fucking shit. As someone who considers TP: S1 to be the best first season ever, and I just finished watching the entire run yet again this is the most amazing news I've heard in... years. Maybe ever. To have Lynch/Frost continue this story, hopefully with all available principal cast members returning, is a dream I never thought would be reality.

I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

Awesome news. I don't mind the delay -- gives me plenty of time to re-watch the series. Haven't seen it in ages.

Even better, guys - since I'm not sure if it's been posted here - but Lynch seems to be planning to shoot it all on film after falling back in love with its characteristics while doing the Twin Peaks deleted scenes.

Man, this is so friggin awesome. I actually love the cliffhanger ending from season 2, but this is just amazing news.
On top of it, I'm just glad Lynch is directing again. Hopefully he follows this up with a film.

This is incredible news. I don't even want to speculate on what it might contain, I just want to sit back and let it wash over me.

Inland Empire had roughly 70 minutes that looked right and worked well, the other 7 hours were a disaster.

I read on an Alan Sepinwall interview with Frost that Showtime plans to reair the entire series sometime before the new season begins.
