Twin Peaks Returns As Showtime Limited Series From David Lynch & Mark Frost

It only makes sense that a story about Twin Peaks would be cloaked in SECRETS and RUMORS, which begin with the same letters as “Special Agent” and “Red Room” (SPOOKY), but here goes: for years, creators David Lynch and Mark Frost have discussed the possibility of Twin Peaks, which aired on ABC from 1990-1991, returning to TV, most recently in SciFi Now, where Frost said bringing the show back is “something we talk about from time to time…If we ever do decide to move forward, I know we have a rich trove to draw from.”

Never gonna happen and I'm not sure I would like it to either.

The original started off really strong but I really lost interest about 2/3 of the way through season 1. The more I learned about Laura Palmer the less I cared about who killed her. I never even bothered to start season 2.

I'd love for David Lynch to return to the small screen...I'd rather have it be something other than Twin Peaks though.

I kind of want his Jack Dahl character from Louie to get a spinoff show. I'd be curious to see what kind of situations he'd get into. And I bet it would fit into the Louie type of universe perfectly.

A show like that would never have a chance to get off the ground in today's world

Twin Peaks could never survive on network television today. It would have to air on a cable channel willing to accept lower ratings.

I'll only watch it if it's on the CW, stars Rachel Bilson as Special Agent Dana Cooper and Xander Berkley as BOB.

I think it should only go on HBO or Showtime. I could see it taking over True Blood's slot when that show eventually ends.

Love Lynch. Love Twin Peaks (in the beginning anyway). Don't want it to happen.

Lynch on cable (HBO, Showtime or even AMC) would be awesome. Lynch on a Network would be too watered-down. Plus, I thought he said he'd never do another series for TV?

I'd LOVE a TWIN PEAKS update, but with Frank Silva, Don Davis, and Jack Nance already gone off to the real Black Lodge, I don't see this happening.

UPDATE: Apparantly Mark Frost has shot down the notion that there's any revival planned.

Fire Walk With Me was epic. It summed up the series perfectly. I've watched a little bit of the series and it never really got to me.

Lynch has been putting out really cool Lynch-ey music. Check it out on Youtube.

I would love to see Lynch get a TV show again, but it has been too long since Twin Peaks ended to go back to that world. I don't see why they would bother returning to it, except to put together extensive Blu-ray releases of the TV show and Fire Walk With Me (with all of the long-discussed deleted scenes, of course).

Sometimes I wonder what might have been if Mulholland Dr. really did go the small screen. I love the movie, but I can't help but think of the possibilities if it had gone to series.

It's NBC. There are no lower standards than that of Nothing But Crap.

I really don't want this to happen. The original series was great. I can't imagine them doing it to that level again. I see it as you shouldn't do a remake or extention unless you can make it as good as before.

I've always thought it might be cool to do something on Twin Peak's twenty-fifth anniversary where Dale Cooper would finally come out of the Red Room. Movie, TV movie, miniseries. It might be a good fit for Showtime, which is part of the CBS/Paramount empire.

Meh. Twin Peaks started strong but quickly went downhill. I dunno who's to blame, though. Lynch for where the story eventually headed or the viewers for demanding that the show reveal the killer ASAP (at least, that's how I remember it going down).

I blame whichever one decided to give Nadine super-human strength.

The blame for the lack of quality for the second season really rest with Kyle McLaughlin (pardon spelling). They actually had a pretty good mysterious love story set up for him and Sherilyn Fenn (pardon spelling) which he rejected.

Really? I recall that he absolutely hated where season 2 went and that's why he only agreed to do no more than a cameo for Fire Walk With Me.

Yes. That was supposed to be the second "A" story for the series. When he rejected it thats when things went haywire. I'm pretty sure Mark Frost covers that in that Gold Box Edition that came out a couple of years ago.

Kyle MacLachlan was dating Lara Flynn Boyle and she forced the end to the Cooper/Audrey storyline. He refused to do the movie and his part was rewriten as Chris Isack's character, then he agreed to appear in a scene. Also it was the Network that forced the reveal of Laura Palmer's killer, and it was obvious that the creators didn't know where to go afterwards. The episodes between the reveal and when the Windom Earle/Black Lodge storyline gets going is rough patch and I can see why people keep watching. The finale was great though.

Re: David Lynch May Have Met With NBC To Discuss Reviving ‘Twin Peaks’

I say let Lynch give us a season of American Horror Story and then we can talk about more Lynch on TV. I don't watch that show as of now, but I'm actually really loving the idea of that series and hoping to see a lot come from it. The idea of a show with some sort of rough theme that changes creative talent from season to season seems like exactly what TV needs to stay fresh.
