Started watching this show two weeks ago. First "live" episode for me.
Yeah, it's good. First "adult" show I watch in a long time. And with adult I mean... grown up situations, not sex, drugs, violence, etc. I watch enough of those shows.
But yeah, because of that, I got a little bit tired by the end of the marathon viewing.

Just got caught up with the show.
Man, this is such a great and underrated show. Great characters who you honestly care about. Alot of that credit goes to Jason Katims. Friday Night Lights had the same kind of magic with it's characters. The last episode that aired with Kristina getting sick and her video to the kids was really poignant. Peter Krause really sold that scene when he watched the video, cried a little and then prayed for Kristina to get better.
I really hope this isn't the final season especially with it being shorter.

It hasn't been renewed yet, but most sites that monitor renewals mark this show as a sure renewal. It's one of NBC's hits, at least in this time slot. But yeah, that was my concern too marathoning the show, I was in the middle of the third season and thought "fuck, there is no way this show is renewed after season 4, I'm sure it's one of those shows fighting every year for renewal..." And that's when I found out about its success.

i was really hoping we would have avoided the "drew pregnancy" storyline, esp with all those heavy handed anvils mark dropped asking if he was being safe.
i really bought into Julia's outbursts and was caught by surprise when she told syd to shut up. Even though i think Victor threw the bat in anger and not at Syd, i thought Julia was a little scary rough with him. I figure he has some abuse in his past, so i wonder if that will come up with how she manhandled him.
watching Lauren graham and egg in separate scenes they have similar mannerisms and vocal deliveries so i buy into them as mother/daughter.
I think adam apologizes way too often and annoys me at times, but dealing with a spouse's cancer and how terrifying that is it also makes him seem more real to me.
overall i think this show keeps getting better and better and i will really miss it if it isn't picked up. the people on it don't feel like characters to me, and i see myself forming connections to them and reacting to them like they exist. sometimes they annoy me, sometimes they surprise me. i disagree with the choices they make occasionally, i am happy when something good happens to them.
it is like a really great version of the Sims.

My wife really, really!, hates Sarah, that's all I will say.
My favorite character is Zeek, and I can't believe "Holly", from Die Hard, is the grandma!

Wow, did Monica Potter really shave her head?
Later in the episode when her head was clean shaven, she looked like Persis Khambata from Star Trek.
Funny seeing Caroline's boyfriend from 2 Broke Girls hit on her.
I've enjoyed the storyline even though it's pretty depressing.
The Sarah storyline with Ray Romano is pretty damn annoying to be perfectly honest. Sarah's decision making is mind boggling. She threw away a good and healthy relationship with Mark for what?
Even though Sarah does some really annoying things, I still like her to an extent. The character I fucking hate is Max.
It was nice to see Crosby do the right thing and help his mother in law.
Overall, it was a good episode and a nice return for this severely underrated show.

Monica Potter didn't shave her head -- she wore a bald cap. It looked real at first, but in later scenes her skull looked noticeably larger than what it should have been (reminded me of Coneheads).
All in all, pretty good episode this week. Although, I am getting tired of the Julie/Joel/Victor storyline.

At the end of the episode Kristina says she is 34. (After she initially told the guy flirting with her that she was 27.)
So if Haddie is 18 (she is just starting college so I assume she is supposed to be 18) that means Kristina gave birth at the age of 16? I just can't imagine Adam and Kristina being teenage parents.

The actor's real age doesn't mean a whole lot though since their on-screen character is oftentimes portrayed as being a younger person. In a lot of "teen" movies and shows the actors are actually in their 20s and sometimes even in their 30s.

I took that comment as another lie to make her feel better. No way they expect us to think she or Adam are in their mid 30's. That's Crosby's role.

Crosby acts more like late 20s as someone who is finally getting over the immaturity of the early/mid 20s and becoming more responsible as he enters his 30s. I would hope that he isn't already mid 30s and still acting that way.

Thanks for bringing up that age comment. I was thinking the same thing that there is no way in hell Kristina could be 34.Early 40's is more realistic, especially when she and Adam were shocked to learn last season that she was pregnant with Nora.

Tuesday episode was another great one and I'm glad to see Jason Ritter hasn't been kicked off the show.

i have convinced myself i saw some reference to Kristina having recently turned 40, like she got cancer on her birthday instead of cake or something.
the first shave head thing looked kinda real because there was stubble and sloppy fuzz. later it had a smoothness i envy and looked more skull cap-ish.
i think there are weird chicks who are hot with shaved heads, like some models and women from the future. so she could just tell people she was from France, like a real conehead.

She's not the only one. She's the reason she lost her fiance, then gets all uspet seeing him having a good time with others while she immediately jumped into bed with her boss and really doesn't think much of it?
While in the end all the characters find ways of redemption, the writers really love to make the fans hate them for stretches at a time.
And then there's Max............
