If we're talking calendar 2012:
Breaking Bad
Justified
Community
Parks & Rec
Covert Affairs
Modern Family
Louie
Big Bang Theory
Sons of Anarchy
Burn Notice
In fairness, there aren't a ton of shows I watch that aren't on my list. In fact, I'd say only Last Resort and Revolution are off the list among things I have watched (unless I'm forgetting something).

I am surprised not a single soul has mentioned Boss yet, though it did get canceled for poor ratings. The Vampire Diaries would get a lot more votes if anyone actually watched the CW.

I'm going to have to actually bump Ben & Kate (which I actually enjoy) of the list in lieu of Black Dynamite, which was easily one of my favorite shows this year. Especially the episode "Just Beat it or Jackson Five Across Yo Eyes."

C'mon, people! Not a single mention of Shameless? It's no Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, or Mad Men, but a very good show that easily makes my top 10 (disclaimer: by my count, I only regularly watch 13 different shows
)...and should yours!

For me:
Person of Interest
The Walking Dead.
The rest I can take or leave but these are must see TV for me. And like someone said before they don't sit in the DVR long if at all.

In Order:
1. Mad Men
2. Breaking Bad
3. Boss
4. Boardwalk Empire
5. Game of Thrones
6. Homeland
7. Louie
8. Parks and Rec
9. Girls
10. Parenthood
Breaking Bad has been #1 for me every year it's been on...except this year. I felt the latest season of Mad Men edged it out ever so slightly. Could be an unfair advantage given BB's shortened 8-episode run.

We don't have cable/satellite in the household, so my list will be rather network heavy.
The shows I enjoyed the most in the past year:
Fringe
Parks & Rec
Community
New Girl
Happy Endings
Game of Thrones
Justified
Archer
The League
Castle

Breaking Bad -- so amazingly good.
Game of Thrones -- Winter is finally coming
Mad Men -- the episode about Lane was pretty special
everything else...
Parks & Recreation -- just keeps getting better
Dexter -- really want this show to get back to its roots
Homeland -- very disappointing
Louie -- again very disappointing but I thought the new direction was interesting at least

Re: End of the year top 10 shows of 2012
I thought I would post my top ten ... then I realized I don't even watch ten shows on a regular basis. I can only think of four:
Walking Dead
Breaking Bad (first season I watched as it aired)
Mad Men (first season I watched as it aired)
The League
Tried watching Revolution, quit. Recorded the first half dozen episodes of that submarine show, never watched them. Don't have HBO or Showtime. Started watching How I Met Your Mother on Netflix ... and I bought Tales from the Golden Monkey on DVD.
