Just got Season 3. Can't wait to watch it. The Danish series puts the American to shame.

Re: The Killing (AMC) - Season 3

I'm game for season 3. Surprised to see that Netflix has no involvement after all and AMC just changed their minds.

The early synopsis given sounds interesting with Holder being the main guy and then bringing back Linden out of retirement to help in the investigation.

Re: The Killing (AMC) - Season 3

Here's the early synopsis for season 3 according to Deadline.com

A year after closing the Rosie Larsen case, Linden is no longer a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder’s search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she’d left behind.
It said they start filming in February. I have to assume this will premiere this summer. I can see it being paired with Breaking Bad on Sunday nights after Mad Men ends.

Re: The Killing (AMC) - Season 3

The big question is how many frumpy sweaters will Linden wear at one time...

That's actually a fairly clever tie in to the previous two seasons. The crime that caused her to lose it the first time around comes back and she has the opportunity to finally close it.

But for the love of god, I don't want to see more than a brief appearance by that kid of hers.

Peter Saarsgard should make a good fit with this show. Something with the dreary rain just fits with him.

More sweaters. Less kids.

Re: The Killing (AMC) - Season 3

Gregg Henry has joined the upcoming third season of AMC’s The Killing. He will play Carl Reddick, Holder’s (Joel Kinnaman) seasoned new partner, a career cop who’s managed to neither excel to the top ranks nor ruffle anyone’s feathers.

Probably not if you are watching all 26 episodes in the span of a few days or weeks.

They started filming last month. The last 2 seasons premiered in the Spring, so it's actually later this time around.

Re: The Killing (AMC) - Season 3

I'm aware, but considering it was a "cancelled" show, it seems pretty fast.

Re: The Killing (AMC) - Season 3

Hopefully Gregg Henry will play his character like he did the mayor in Slither. THAT would be fun.

Really looking forward to this.

The show was cancelled last July.

FOX TV, who produces the show, said it would explore finding a new home for it.

The 2 leads (Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman) were already contracted to do a 3rd season. FOX never released them from their contracts.

FOX and AMC started early negotiations to un-cancel it in November.

It was officially renewed in January. Production began last month.

The show wasn't 100% dead yet because the studio had not released the actors yet. If AMC and FOX weren't able to work out that deal for a 3rd season, then Enos and Kinnaman would have be released and allowed to audition for other roles.

The show was canceled. The studios can hold contracts as long as they want (well, until they run out). Sort of a dick move because there was a very good chance the show wouldn't get uncanceled and they could have missed out on pilot season (which they sort of did last year - they could have been cast in a show airing this season).

If I was them, I would've be pissed. I'm sure both of them would have been offered several pilots....and we could have finally seen Enos in something other then what my grandma knits.

Glad this is a summer show. If this aired during the normal Season I'd probably skip it.

Im sure they're not too mad; Enos is in WWZ with Pitt and Kinniman is Robocop.

Re: The Killing (AMC) - Season 3

The third season of AMC’s The Killing is set to introduce a serial killer villain. Below is the show’s official new marketing art that depicts one victim and 17 (and counting!) tally marks. But unlike some other more outlandish serial killer dramas, you can expect The Killing to have a more grounded and realistic take on the genre.

“We really wanted to reach out and grab people,” Linda Schupack, AMC’s executive vp of marketing. “We wanted the ad to be graphic and bold and stylish. The story is about a serial killer, but at the same time we also wanted to capture the humanity of the story — which I think sets it apart from other cop dramas. You really feel for the characters, particularly the victims.”

Though this is The Killing’s third season, the new case provides a creative reset that will make it easier for new viewers to tune in. The first two heavily serialized seasons were focused on solving one murder (the killing of Rosie Larsen). At the start of season three, Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) has quit Seattle homicide, but a case where somebody is preying on street kids will bring her back into the game. The case will be concluded at the end of this season.

Here’s the new art for The Killing, which returns to AMC on June 2. (Or perhaps this season the show should be called The Killings?).
