Help with a TV horror-anthology show

There was a bunch of anthology shows in the 80s and 90s. One episode I remember in particular was about a serial killer who decapitated his/her victims. The story centers around an artist, I think, and his girlfriend, and also the detective who's looking for the murderer. What happens next is
Spoiler:
that the artist, who is the suspect, is found to have a head in a jar in his fridge. When the detective finds it the artist just breaks down mumbling about seeing it at a carnival and saying he just had to have it. Case closed.

But then it turns out that the detective, who was shown to be a bowler, is hiding heads in his bowling bag. He's the real murderer.

I think all the actors were british, if that helps.

Anyone see this episode and know what show I'm talking about? Thanks.

Maybe Tales of the Unexpected. That was a British show. Or is it considered English? I can never keep those terms straight.

Tales of the Unexpected sounds interesting. I'll check it out anyways, thanks.

Thank you for letting me know it was Tales from the Crypt. We didn't have cable back then so I don't know how I caught it on TV. That's why I ruled that it out from the others.

I think the correct term these days is "Pre-American" ...

A lot of episodes of Tales from the Crypt aired in edited versions on FOX affiliates in the mid to late 90s.

The final season of Tales was all shot in the UK with UK actors, a lot of people pop up on that one.
