I'm pretty damn excited to see this episode. Unfortunately I won't be able to watch it until tomorrow.

As a season finale it was pretty weak, but they really setup well for next season.

Good luck in the real world with a no money, no job, a fat stupid son, a daughter on crutches, and a brother who hates you! Epic fail

Harrow was bad ass. Was he going to go in there like that if there were still 40 men in there?

Liked the open and Richard going Rambo in the mansion.

Disappointed in no Van Alden.

Glad we don't have to see Gyp anymore.

Was disappointed that Rosetti's demise wasnt more gruesome after all the suffering he caused so many others, mostly for no reason I might add. Plus the moment it came was totally predictable given how batshit crazy he was acting. I was also surprised that Red didnt O.D.

I liked it, appears nucky didn't like being bent over by rothstein. The only question is why would mellon go along with it? He doesn't know any of these people, why does he even take nuckys apparent call? Seems like he would just want to wash his hands of the bad decision to get into business with nucky in the first place.

Down was the only way to go after last week's brilliant episode. I can't understand the lack of Van Alden, as there was no resolution to his storyline. I loved all the scenes with Chalky and Capone. It felt like they ran out of ideas to keep Gyp interesting this very episode, so I'm glad he's gone. I'm looking forward to the next season despite my disappointment overall in tonight's finale.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "Margate Sands" -- 12/02/12

I thought it was a good finale with some great individual moments that didn't quite add up to greatness. With Capone in New Jersey, I figured that we were probably done with Van Alden for the year.

Wonder what Gillian will do when she sobers up and finds out Tommy is gone.

Wow, what an awesome, revealing interview. Thanks. Is there a question he won't answer? He's the anti David Chase.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "Margate Sands" -- 12/02/12

How do we know Gillian didn't die or did I miss something?

I thought it was a good episode but they've had better. Richard was awesome, and yeah Gyp's death was predictable. It was a question of who killed him and how basically.

spoilers in case people don't know...
Spoiler:
Doesn't Charlie actually become one of Masseria's henchmen in real life and is involved in his death later? Maybe that'll be in the next season.

You missed the conversation she had with Nucky in the hotel after the massacre.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "Margate Sands" -- 12/02/12

I agree with most above.

Gyp's departure was pretty anti-climactic. Although, wasn't the guy that killed Rosetti the cousin of the guy Gyp killed on the beach with the shovel? That actually makes it pretty worthwhile.

Richard was awesome, as expected. Only problem was that he seemed to be giving up after he dropped the boy off. I'm hoping that means he's just distancing himself from the boy, and is going to be more badass next season.

Odds on Gillian becoming a heroin addict? Pretty good, I'd say.

Yes, not having van Alden in the episode was pretty disappointing.

Short answer, yes.

In real life
Spoiler:
Luciano works for Rothstein until Rothstein dies, then works for Masseria until Luciano kills Masseria in a bid for control. That takes us up to the late 20s, and at that point, Luciano winds up heading one of the Five Families, which come into existence at that point as the overarching structure of the New York mob. It's a lot more complicated than that, but that's a thumbnail sketch -- read up on the Castellammarese War for details

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "Margate Sands" -- 12/02/12

Liked it but thought it was sloppy.

Gangsters can't hit Richard from ten feet away and yet he can no-scope them. If this was an FPS, I'd demand a patch.

The brothers Thompson raid the house by themselves? Even with Masseria's men gone, Gyp still had like 15 men. They had no idea that Richard was going to do what he did.

I liked how Nucky was able to screw Masseria and Rothstein twice.

Thought it would have been cool if Nucky was walking the boardwalk and passes by "Chalky's".

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "Margate Sands" -- 12/02/12

There was just no way this episode could have topped last week's, but I got a full-on testosterone hard-on seeing Richard go Commando at the Artemis. Fucking blissful moment, even better when the Thompson's show up and wonder WTF happened.

No Van Alden at all? Like we didn't already know they had no clue what to do with him.

Gillian not dead?

Capone looked so happy shooting that machine gun.

I think Richard realized he couldn't stay with her once she saw him with that blood all over his face.

It appears Gaston Means is now working for Mellon which would give Nucky a direct line to him. Mellon proved earlier he isnt above being bought. I'm sure Nucky made it worth his while. Plus he gets "credit" for shutting down a massive distillery and nabbing a major crime boss.

This was the part I had the biggest problem with.

And why would Gillian not be dead? I figured she was going to try to overdose Rosetti. Why would she just drug him and not OD him? I thought maybe she was still fading into death when talking with Nucky...or maybe that was just wishful thinking. Her storyline is old and done.

Re: Boardwalk Empire -- Season Finale -- "Margate Sands" -- 12/02/12

The interview answers that question, she wasn't really overdosing them, it was the drowning that killed the first guy. It's just enough to make them sedate. Heroin is new, maybe they didn't even really know about OD'ing yet, or maybe you couldn't fit enough into the syringe. It's probably not as potent as stuff now.

Shes a good actress and they mentioned in the interview they had more story to tell with her, I dont mind her sticking around post heroin boost...
