The truth of the matter is that networks view Summer as a time for disposable, trashy entertainment. There simply isn't a big enough audience watching in the Summer to warrant a huge investment. If CBS had thought it was a great show, it would have been moved to Fall or Spring.
The ratings are going to drop like a rock next year, just like The Killing's disastrous season one finale destroyed that show. |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
I think this may have worked as a mini series for the summer but they destroyed it in trying to make it last more seasons. The whole thing just feels like it was being done on the fly.

yeah, that was a fucked up ending. i'm out.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
This show could have easily been just the thirteen episodes however based on the pacing by the time this episode hit there is no way it could have finish the story. Too much padding that was not needed. One more season is seriously all this will need, no dragging it out for them then that.

The show is trying to tell us something. It wants us to go outdoors.

Worst ... cliffhanger ... ever ...
Fade to white? Le sigh. So Aliens or Angels? |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Yeah, not much about this show makes sense, but I'm going to ask anyway. At the end, Big Jim was shouting to Junior, "Now, Junior, now!" for him to pull the lever. But everyone was looking up at the sky and wasn't paying attention anyway. I thought the whole point was that he needed to put on a show for everyone. What was he afraid would happen if Junior didn't pull the lever?

I stuck with it but not sure I return.Maybe to see what happens after the 'whiteout' but after that I probably wont tune in unless I hear it gets better.
Last night made it look like a 3rd grader tried to make a story out of a sentence. |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
I lost interest around the third episode...

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
I am in the same boat as the rest of you. I am out. I may look up what people are saying about season two online next year and, if it sounds like it may have improved, I will catch it On Demand, but I am not giving an hour of my life each week to this show again unless word about season two is really, really positive.
But I also think that season two's ratings will drop like a rock. The hype of the premier this year is over and out. Now we are all older and wiser. |

All that shit about the pink stars falling in lines, they weren't falling, they were ascending.

Since they're moving away from the novel, I wonder if they have any kind of master <s>dog</s> plan in place, or if they're just making shit up episode by episode like Lost.

It's obvious to me that many people had a lot of initial interest in the show's core concept, but everything about it was amateur hour from the very beginning. Basically the only thing CBS got right was optioning Stephen King's book. It was all downhill from there. With better writing, casting and acting, this show becomes a cult hit like The Walking Dead. |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
So glad I don't have to watch this ever again. What a joke of a finale.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Sweet Jesus, I'm glad it's over. Worst show I've seen in a long time.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
I only started watching this show because i thought it was a miniseries and would wrap up over the summer. When i heard it was getting another season i was confused and saddened and wanted to stop watching it but i was already so far in it and was hoping there would at least be some kind of payoff for finishing the first season. However, the finale is a huge Fuck You to the people watching the show. It was basically a teaser for the next season and nothing but that. Unless they guarantee next season will wrap it up there is no more reason to watch the show. As bad as it is now to attempt to stretch it further would be unbearable torture. Now if they had the idea to actually focus on the people and community as a whole as they all work together under the circumstances of the dome, I think that could have worked. Focus on a character an episode and show how they deal with it and come together or separate with intertwining stories. It would make you care for the characters and give you an understanding of their actions instead i couldn't give two shits about a single character of the series and what they do.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
They SERIOUSLY need to finish the story by the end of next season. Maybe that is likely to happen based on likely the ratings may drop.
I also just read someone say this - Really good news: The show WILL be back next year!!!!!! Absolutely, positively THE BEST SHOW on TV, not only this Summer but certainly in the top 3 no matter what season. Love all the twists and turns; just when you think you are figuring things out, they do a plot twist. Love that! |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Is this the most-hated show that people kept watching? Other than Lost...

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
They built that gallows pretty damn fast. What did it take, 20 minutes? I'd think they would still be trying to round up the lumber. I doubt I will waste any time on season two.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
My gf loves this show so I'll be stuck watching season 2. After watching the full season, I can still only see Big Jim as Hank, so that doesn't help. The story has gotten too far out there...and this is coming from someone who likes Revolution.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
One thin I would be curious about is to see how everyone here would like a show like this to play out. From what I have read this is really removed from the book at this time. It also sounds like the show will not do what the book did as that would go too far and this is not cable. Of course if it was cable it could go too far depending on the network.
|
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
It was originally a limited show and that's probably why a lot of people started watching. So what does the network do, milks it and pisses people off.
