Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
People are dancing at the end of the world? And they don't even like each other? :hscratch: No panicking, no chaos, no crying. Just total cooperation, a bit of music and dancing. Naturally.
I was surprised Big Jim did the decent thing and freed Junior's captive, but wasn't he worried about what she would say about Junior after she found other people (like maybe the female cop)? |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
So if the government thought that missile they fired at the dome was going to strong enough to take out the dome, I guess it probably wiped out Westlake, which seems to be only a few miles away from Chester's Mill.
I'm surprised that anyone in the town thought the missile would have do anything to the dome. |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Probably one of the better episodes this season. I mean things actually happened. But, the people of the town were relatively calm for a potential nuclear threat that could have killed them all.
So after the failed attempt to Nuke the dome, would miles outside of the dome be uninhabitable because of the radiation? I guess that nixes any future visitor days huh? Thank God Big Jim released Angie. Junior is still a lunatic, but I hope they ease up now on his psychotic behavior now that his Dad knows. I know it's been mentioned before, even though they are in a dome, they can't control natural elements like wind during filming. I noticed in the scene where Big Jim was talking to the preacher wind was rustling the leaves on the trees in the background. No doubt that UTD is a flawed show, but I don't want to over-analyze every single aspect of it. |

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Aside from using Skeeter Davis's classic "The End of the World," a largely wretched episode. There is zero tension for a television series to threaten to blow up its entire cast less than halfway through its initial run.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
I really noticed all that wind from inside the doom and even when the bomb went off. Only so much that can be done when you need to have the show filmed and it gets windy out.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Finally watched the latest episode. I was completely wrong about Big Jim getting knocked in the head and locked up with the girl.
I'm not getting into the show and I don't really care what happens to any of the characters. I would like to see where they are headed. Since it only takes about 35 minutes to watch without commercials, I'll probably give it one more episode. |

And for goodness sake, if I'm down to my last few matches and will have no light, extraneous clothing is coming off to make a torch. It's not like it's the dead of winter there anyway as everyone walks around with their jackets open. .... |

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
The commercial for the 7/29 episode shows it raining inside the dome, so if it can somehow rain inside the dome then I guess there can be wind too.

It's not great TV. That is for sure. It's not up there with Lost or Walking Dead, but it wants to be. It isn't, though, but I still think it's better than most scripted dramas on TV. |

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Gather 'round children ... warn your pets and lock up your parents ... it's time once again for Abob Teff's Random Page 3 Thoughts!
Yes ... people do actually call a generator a "jenny" ... of course these are also the same people who typically hook it up wrong and backfeed electricity down the lines. The lack of reaction in Chester's Mill ... really not all that surprising that people are generally non-chalant. We have become a very "cowed" society and expect somebody will rescue us with little no need to act on our own. I have seen this time after time while working with the public and emergency service agencies. The residents are not reacting because they expect the government (or military) will have them out soon. I expect the failure of the MOAB will begin to change the townsfolk's behavior ... Season 2 ... the mere fact that we know there is a strong possibility of a second season has cheapened the first season. If there were only 13 episodes we would be more apt to watch to the end to see the conclusion. Now that we know there won't be one, viewers are dropping out. Personally, I'm sticking with it, although I am sick of investing time into shows that arbitrarily end with no wrap up. I'd prefer a finite series. The "danger of the week" formula has kicked in way too soon. This was the primary problem with "Terra Nova" ... there is a very interesting central story plot behind the series. Quit ignoring it to simply fill up the schedule! Every episode should be driving the core story. We should not be taking entire episodes out to pursue a "danger of the week" even if the danger is a fire or a lone, nutball gunman. Is anybody else waiting for Dodee to say "Chut up!" For the record, I haven't read the book yet. Even if I had, I feel there has been enough pre-show information advising us that the show will not follow the book. Get over it! Weather inside the dome, even wind and rain, is not unreasonable. Wind is caused by unevenly heated air (not the Earth spinning) which will still occur under a dome. Rain is probably even more likely under the dome than in the open -- it would come from moisture evaporating into the air, condensing on the dome (trapped instead of moving on), and then falling back to the ground. And a final parting though ... A-Rod is guilty as hell. |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Fuck this...
The folks in Chester’s Mill would be well-advised to sit tight, seeing as CBS has renewed it’s summertime hit Under the Dome for a 13-episode second season, to air in Summer 2014. A small-screen adaptation of the Stephen King novel, Dome premiered to 13.5 million total viewers with a 3.3 demo rating, and and at last tally had amassed 20 million with a 4.6 rating, with DVR data and non-linear playback factored in. The 13-episode freshman drama’s most recent episode drew 11.4 mil and a 2.8 in Live+Same Day ratings. |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
WTH? There's absolutely no need for that. GRRR. I may have to just drop it before they start prolonging things for no reason.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
No thank you. I was totally in when I heard this was going to be a limited series, then backed out once I heard there was potential for multiple seasons.
|
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
No one should be shocked that it got a second season...that was the plan all along by everyone involved with the show once the decision was made to put it on CBS.
The good news here is that: a) They're keeping it a summer series and b) They're keeping it to 13 episodes per season |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Not shocked. With the ratings it was getting, it was more than expected. It's been a rocky first season, but I'll watch next summer. Network TV is already very light on scripted shows in the summer. Cable pretty much dominates. The scripted stuff that we are usually getting in the summer from the networks are usually cheap foreign produced shows (Motive, Rookie Blue, Crossing Lines). I know there aren't too many CBS fans here, but its good to have a 13 week serial drama on a network that isn't known for producing them.
I read that Les Moonves said the streaming deal with Amazon and international sales made it possible to keep the show affordable. I'm assuming those of you who are mad it's coming back don't think this show has a sustainable premise to last multiple seasons. |
Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
This means they'll never offically reveal the cause of the dome until at least next season. A second season is absolutely horsecrap.

Re: Stephen King's Under The Dome - Spielberg Produced - CBS
Meh, I'm out. I was tuning in for a limited-run self-contained story, and this isn't interesting enough for me to commit beyond that.
