I agree. I stay far away from any weekly episode thread until I have watched the actual episode.

Kinda what I was thinking while watching it. She thinks she is doing the right thing by dying which made no sense to me. Stay with your current child and husband and be an adult contributor to the group or die, bring a crying baby into the world which will need milk/formula and will be a burden and dinner alarm to any zombie around. Seemed almost like a selfish decision even though she lost her life because of the baby.

Maybe Rick will put a bullet or machete in it's head next week since he hates letting new people into the group.

Great episode, but if the rest of the season ends up being about the search for Sophia's mom my shit will be lost.

Someone better start lactating soon. How the hell do you feed a baby in a post-apocalyptic world?

They should have kept Zombie Lori alive, sans jaw and arms, to feed the baby (do zombies lactate?).

My wife didn't appreciate the practicality of my solution.

Nah. Don't worry about it. They've been more or less sticking to the books. I know what's coming.

They don't know how this works as they haven't met Michonne yet. I am however thinking the milk would be bad. I was wondering what would happen if the baby died in the womb.. Would it become a zombie and kill the mother from within?

A couple of thoughts:

1. How is that baby going to be fed? I doubt the prison has a lot of formula.
2. I am not a fan of them bringing back the dude who should have been eaten, it creates a sense of doubt for any off screen kill (like mommy).

I'm afraid of future-spoilers from the comic book readers. This was a constant problem in the Game of Thrones forums with book readers. I find I have to stop reading these thread after a page or two because of the inept spoiler posters.

I made a thread for comic and show spoilers. Otherwise in these threads comic spoilers are usually in tags.

I don't know, I see where you're coming from, but I got the impression that with the level of bleeding going on and where they were, she was going to die no matter what. She just wanted them to act right away to at least save the baby instead of waiting and letting them both die.

Damn, this was one of the most intense hours of television I've seen in a while. That birth scene was disturbing beyond words. Everything about it was maximum awful. Carl having to watch her mother scream in pain as she gets sliced open and dies, then putting a bullet in her corpse's head. Brutal stuff. And Rick's screaming when they come outside - chilling. He did a great job.

I picked up and started reading the comics right after the end of the episode - this season has been so much improved over the first two. I just want to catch up now and see where the story goes.

I'll be curious to see the ratings on this show going forward. I think it's great, but I wonder if the constantly bleak and disturbing footage won't turn some viewers off. I know a few people who were fans of the previous seasons but are having a hard time with this one due to all the ultra violence. It really is quite a turn from the previous seasons.

Not sure if this needs spoiler, since I don't know how it will be resolved, but the 'next week on' shows:

Spoiler:

I still don't get how that guy survived. Didn't they have screams and eating noises when he supposedly died?

As I stated last week, that was clearly him eating the zombies.

But yeah, never trust an off-screen death. In other words, if Zombie Lori comes around the corner with her uterus hanging out, it should come as a surprise to nobody.

My guess is that once they hit death, the bodies stop producing things like more blood and especially something like breast milk. These things have the same functions as a normal dead body, other than the walking around and eating part.

Babies would be a small enough meal that I would guess there wouldn't be enough left of one to turn into a zombie.

Did Carol die? At the end when they come across T-Dogg's eviscerated body, it looks like another corpse is proped up sitting against the wall behind him. It had grey hair like Carol but it was too dark and obscured for me to see if it was really her or not. I thought she had escaped as well. Of the (possibly) three characters who died this episode, she was the most worthless to the story I thought.

I figured as much, but you have to think that it will take a lot of freaking supplies. A newborn will go through 10 diapers a day and a ton of formula in a month.

apparently there are herbal remedies/pills that you can take to stimulate lactation.

Also from Wiki:

It was once believed that a wet-nurse must have recently undergone childbirth. This is not necessarily true, as regular breast suckling can elicit lactation via a neural reflex of prolactin production and secretion.[3] Some adoptive mothers have been able to establish lactation using a breast pump so that they could feed an adopted infant.[4]

Dr Gabrielle Palmer[5] states:

There is no medical reason why women should not lactate indefinitely or feed more than one child simultaneously (known as 'tandem feeding')... some women could theoretically be able to feed up to five babies.[6]

Maggie is going to be the kid's wet nurse.

Hell Glen/Maggie seem to be the most 'stable' family group anyways, Should be them raising the child

The up side is that during the initial zombie outbreak, I doubt folks were looting the Similac. Should still be plenty around.
