Remember Jim, the mechanic type from the first season? He got a single bite (improbably placed in the middle of his chest) and died from the infection.

Damn, Carl - that was cold.

That's all I have to say for this episode.

Yea, I watch the show late on Amazon or wherever. :)

Whoa now, that's a bit much. Keep watching BB... :)

I'm at S4 ep3 and I've seen some crazy stuff... but nothing that was as impactful as this episode of TWD. But if you're saying BB is better than this, I'm fired up!

Correct show-wise, but not dragon-wise. In the TV/comic universe, a bite triggers some sort of quick blood infection.

Komodos do not incapacitate prey with bacteria it turns out. They inject venom from special glands in the mouth that keeps blood from clotting.

Oh ok thanks. I didn't know they had venom glands. But I'm also reading that a Komodo's saliva can also kill via infection. So I guess it can kill both ways.

I thought episodes 2 and 3 of the first season of BB were as powerful as this, but to each their own.

I just thought... I'm a little disappointed at not getting to see Zombie Lori. They could've really pushed it with that considering her c-section.

Great job, and by great I mean fucking abysmal, by troystiffler posting a comic spoiler in the same post he complains about a "spoiler" from an episode that's already aired.

And  at Rick's "been through some stuff".

As annoying as she was this series needed her and will miss her.

On the flip side they found another couple of redshirts for the group.

my guess, the baby will be the zombie apocalypse version of the "star child" from V

I was thinking how awful it would be to have to watch your mother give birth, then BAM, shit got real. The last 10 minutes of this ep is the best TV I can recall seeing. And the first 50 were really good too. Are Glen and Maggie living in the guard tower or just up there fucking?

I understand the point ... it just seemed rather odd. Hell, Rick hacked off Herschel's leg to try to save him. Other characters who have been bitten have been comforted and had some level of care administered despite the hopeless odds. For Lori it was simply "Fuck you and fare thee well. We aren't even going to put the bullet in your head first, you get to lay there and bleed out while we ignore you and snatch your baby away." Did Lori even get to hold the baby before she died?

Pressure, some sort of wound dressing, Carl could have retrieved Herschel (I know they wouldn't have made it) ... I know all would be pretty much pointless, but they didn't make any effort at all. It was just weird ...

Huh? I think it was established that things had gone South for Lori and there was no turning back. She was already bleeding internally, they showed Maggie's hand full of blood and that's when she figures out things are bad.

Plus Maggie did all she could to convince Lori they needed help but Lori decided her life was less important than the baby. What could they do?

My question is, why the hell didn't they shoot Lori in the head BEFORE they performed the battlefield c-section?

Maggie: "Carl, I'm sorry. I just shot your mother in the head."

Carl: "So she didn't suffer through the c-section?"

Maggie: "What c-section?"

Reminds me of an old Simpson's episode:

Grampa: [runs into the room with a hammer and a wooden stake] Quick! We have to kill the boy! (meaning Bart)
Marge: How did you know he was a vampire?
Grampa: He's a vampire? AHHH! [runs out of room]

The more relevant Simpsons entry is THOHIII

Homer cautiously leads his family to the car parked outside, but is stopped
by Ned Flanders.

Zombie Flanders: Hey Simpson! I'm feeling a mite peckish.
[sinisterly] Mind if I chew your EAR?

Homer wastes him.

Bart: Dad, you killed the Zombie Flanders!
Homer: He was a Zombie!?

Okay i just finished watching this episode and wanted to post how powerful that ending was.

I haven't watched anything beyond this ep. but i assume the baby is gonna make too much noise at some point and they'll have to 'Take care' of it.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Killer Within" -- 11/04/12

i think it is a given that the baby is going to be killed, or at least somehow dispatched of... it hinders the protagonists too much... i mean, the kid is ALWAYS gonna need to eat... and what happens if it lives to be old enough to be a toddler? are they going to subject a toddler to exposure to gruesome zombie effects? I think not.
