Re: The Walking Dead -- "Walk with Me" -- 10/28/12

Really good episode. Loving the quicker pacing/more action compared to previous seasons.

Liked the Day of the Deadesque scene with the group leader and his scientist examining the chick's walker slaves. So the scientist guy is obviously releated to Tom Hanks, son or brother? This can't be the same Hanks that was just on Dexter, right?

Minor nitpick, but I why did they have to put Michael Rooker's name in the opening credits? It sort of spoiled the shock when he apprehends the girls since I knew right away who it was. Would have been nice to realize it was him only when she turned around.

the actress playing Michonne looks chronically constipated.

They showed him on the "previously on" segment prior which is just as bad. "oh look a clip from season 1 from a character we haven't seen since. I can't imagine why they'd show that!"

Yeah, I started skipping "Previously On" years ago because of shit like that.

Wow, I would have bet money that dude was from the Hanks family tree. Looks and sounds so familar. Maybe Hank's had an affair with Mrs. Roberts and produced this guy.

That drove me nuts about Lost. Especially since they would add people to the credits for seemingly the entire season. Zoe Bell had like three minutes of screen time, but got multiple credits in the opening.

I took to positioning my foot so it blocked out the credits while watching.

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Walk with Me" -- 10/28/12

Opening show credits can be a complicated thing. I'm imagining this front placement is part of the contract of established actors like Michael Rooker. If he has a reoccuring role on the show this season her certainly deserves to be in the opening credits. I just wish they would have said "Look for the first episode, let's keep your name off so it's a surprise. We'll give you a big "Guest Starring Miachel Rooker" first thing in the end credits.

On the other hand, naming actors in the opening credits can be effective at faking you out. When
Spoiler:
Stephen Root
was on True Blood, their name was in the opening credits, making me think they were going to be a series regular, and thus made their death more shocking than it would have been otherwise, because I wasn't expecting it.

Yeah, Rooker's name in the credits is all about SAG rules. I THINK the actor can request it be removed, but there's some hoop jumping to do on both ends to make it happen. It's just easier to leave it on there. Trust me, while everyone HERE knows who Michael Rooker is, the vast majority of TV viewers do not.

You can bet a good chunk aren't reading the names or even watching the opening credits either.

Pretty good ep and a good intro for the Governor. Poor Michonne must have hit her head on the way into down and made herself retarded since she lost the ability to say anything but "We want our weapons!"

It seems to me, that with the scientist's discovery, the militia in Woodbury could capture some walkers and after taking their arms and jaws, make a loose sort of "fence" around the town that should keep anymore from coming that direction.

I also loved Merle's prosthesis and am looking forward to what else he can attach to it besides that bad-ass blade.

Good to hear. So what numbers will it finally take to get some of that Mad Men budget transferred over? I believe that is now three times as many people as watch Mad Men.

Between Mad Men losing the Best Drama emmy and The Walking Dead getting great ratings, I foresee a lot of changes in who gets the good parking spots at the AMC lot.

I think it's funny how prior to season 2, AMC asked the Producers to slash the budget of the show. Especially after coming off great ratings in season 1. That was partially the reason why Frank Darabont got fired because he didn't want to do it.

Now in season 3, the ratings are at an all-time high and beating network competition. I'm sure AMC is making a shit load of money from Ad Revenue, DVD/BD sales and International Sales to foreign territories. The show just is a ATM machine to this network now.

None. Mad Men's contracts are signed and it's set until the final season.

Thank God for that, too.

It belonged to the soldier they originally rescued from the helicopter.

I'll go ahead and spoil this, despite the fact that it's in relation to a guy who sits and stairs at a wall of undead severed heads.

Spoiler:
He's a little crazy.

How about this?

It's one of the first things I thought of when I saw Merle's blade.

You can bet good money an eventual Ash reference will be made with Merle, at least from a visual point. That attachment is screaming for a blade or chainsaw.

Ah, got it. I just thought that I was maybe missing something on a grander scale.
