South Park- "A Nightmare on Face Time" (10/24/2012)

Episode 1612

http://www.southparkstudios.com/clip...trick-or-treat
Synopsis: Randy's big plans for Halloween night keep Stan from trick or treating with his friends.
Looking forward to this one as it's been a while since they've had a Halloween episode.

Liked it

The Blockbuster stuff/Shining homage was hilarious.

Hey look, Gangnamstein! Wish I had thought of that.

at their reactions when they saw how many thieves there were and that they had already murdered the guy behind the counter in cold blood.

Terrific episode. I didn't even know that Blockbuster had ANY stores still open.

And just like the one shown tonight, every Halloween party 2012 will be FILLED with that gangnam douche.

Great episode. Loved the stuff with Blockbuster and The Shining references. I found Mr. Garrison dressed as The Driver from Drive pretty funny too for some reason. Gangnam-stein was pretty funny too .

Cartman might as well have just killed himself right then and there.

Gangnamstein isn't anything. 'Gangnam Style' is a Korean pop song/dance that is very big right now. It's fleeting but since it's big around Halloween time there will for sure be a ton of 'Gangnam Style' costumes.

Yea, if you go to any place playing dance music you'll hear "Gangnam Style". I heard it about half a dozen times at a wedding I attended a couple weeks ago.

Absolutely hilarious episode. Loved the shining / blockbuster angle. Definitely an episode that belongs in the South Park Hall of Fame. One of top 10 episodes for sure.

Hadn't watched South Park in a while and checked this one out given all the horror movies I'm watching this month. Good episode for sure. Favorite part was the music on the car ride to the store matching the same music as the intro to The Shining.

There is a blockbuster in a strip mall we pass by - and I turned to my GF and asked "is that still open" and we both didn't know if the store is still open or is it closed

I didn't really like the Shining/blockbuster gag, which was a large part of the ep, but I did like the stuff with the kids. The Shining bit just didn't have any hook that made it more than a standard parody.

I kind of identified with Randy. Not that I'd ever go to a video store, but I still rent discs only from Netflix. I just don't have fast enough Internet for streaming, and even when I've seen good HD streaming, it's still not as good as Blu-ray. I guess most people probably aren't as picky as I am.

Probably not. But the internet is yet fast enough for perfect streaming. And it really takes me out of a movie when I'm really digging it, and it pauses and says "buffering". Lame. And it happens frequently.

So computers and the internet still aren't as powerful and steady as a dedicated console.

Alright episode. I haven't laughed much at this season yet. But it's still South Park, and always entertaining.

Modern computers and the internet are powerful enough to handle streaming video content. If you run into buffering while watching a 90-minute or 2hr movie, mostly likely you don't have a decent enough connection on your end i.e. you don't have enough bandwidth. Or if you do have enough bandwidth, the stream may run into a bottleneck somewhere. When I first got DSL on 2008, I got the lower end 1 Mbps package and did run into the buffering screen a few times when I would stream movies, but once I upgraded to the 3.5-7 Mbps package, it never buffers and I stream movies pretty regularly.

I'm fine with streaming for rentals, but if there's a movie I really like, then I'll buy a BD of it.
