the best part about google guy was him whining that the world turned back into the school playground and he was weak again
HE'S HAD 15 YEARS TO GET IN SHAPE
I'd think even a really lazy/unmotivated person would get in shape sometime within 15 years of society breaking down

It would take a long time to get to NYC and find a group of people who wanted to go and a boat, but like I said, she's had 15 years to even try to get closer to her home.

Yeah, but then that would be an even more boring hour of television. Maybe.

I can't believe this got a full season order.

And I'm in. I really like this show, there I said it. Yeah, I laugh at some parts. You can always expect a scene where the girl is told to not do something and she will do it. And I really like the male lead, I think he has a lot of potential, he can grow into something big.

Although the dialog is bad in general, there are some bright spots, some quotes already mentioned here. I LOL'd at "So you are not his type". When the girl told him that he was a priest. I took that as a reference that he likes kids... don't know why.

Anyway, from the previews next week looks interesting.

Re: Revolution -- "No Quarter" -- 10/01/12

Watched this last night..

1) I agree with Deadlamb about his view of sending in men to use up the snipers bullets That untrained sniper must have one hell of a night vision scope to take out all those guys all night long (WTF???)

2) The back story is the most interesting part but it makes up 5 minutes of the show. All those guys are good actors and draw me into their story. The hunger games girl, and the poor man's Holly Berry are just awful.

How many episodes do you think were shot before the writers / NBC got the fan feedback that the hunger games girl sucks, so they can move her and her brother's boring ass story into the background or reunite them and move on to something a bit more compelling?

3) So now that pendant is going to be like LOST - and just at key times power everything up and get things working, and just when you think you are about to do that key task, the power will go out again... oh what fun we are all going to have.

That's basically the only reason I'm still watching.

Food is scarce... why are there so many fat people??

Farm equipment obviously doesn't work. Why are there rows upon rows of still partially green corn stalks???? There's no way a person could plant that much, that perfectly, by hand.

There's satisfying implausibility like Last Resort and the type that clearly isn't even trying that hard like this show.

That said, except for the stupid fucking girl, I find this show tolerable enough so far. Her brother doesn't even bug me that much.

There is horse drawn farm equipment (plows, etc.) either antiques that are being reused or new ones made that should work in this universe. Even if you had a small handful of people you could plant that much by hand and horse drawn plow. That's one of the few things about the show that made sense to me, but I'm from farm country.

It started off with gangbuster ratings, for NBC anyway. Remember this is the network that kept renewing Heroes, long after it had become a dessicated corpse. The renewal was probably to allay fears among the serialized viewers the storyline would get resolved on some level. I still don't think this makes it to another season.

If they keep 60% of the audience, I think they get renewed.

I liked all the backstory and the stuff that features Jacob and Sidney Glass. The girl and her eventually-will-be-boyfriend are not interesting. Shame cos I liked the girl when she was Blue in Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

Why is billonaire's beard so well groomed, Why are there only musket weaponry?

You are going to go crazy asking yourselves these questions.

That's very true... and actually makes sense.

I didn't even stop to think about it though, probably because they had a broken down John Deere (or whatever brand) sitting right beside the partially withered corn. I hope they didn't mean to imply that corn would still look like that after 15 years

That's easy. With no working machinery, bullets for contemporary weapons are likely hard to come by (though not impossible to make by hand). Bullets for muskets would be relatively easier to manufacture and therefore such weapons would be more common.

Now the grooming of certain characters does strain credibility.

I assume they stick with muskets for those kind of small battles (weaker enemies) and save the automatic weapons and ammunition for major engagements (perhaps with other republics/territories).

That's what I assumed too, since ammo would be mostly used up and hard to come by. Giancarlo's character sure has no issue pulling out the hand cannon he carries around.

but also the militia took most of the guns. keeping the more powerful weapons in a stockpile somewhere prevents their own soldiers from having the power to rise up.

Wow!
Last week people were making the Randall Flagg jokes, but this week no one has mentioned when Miles introduced him and the niece as "Stu Redman and Frannie." Kudos though for whoever mentioned the Shawshank reference. I had a weather alert pop up that made me miss a couple of of minutes of dialogue during that time.
It looks like at least one of the writers is a big fan of "The Stand."

Do bullets degrade? There must be stashes of millions of rounds out there.

Stupid that stuff could still power up with the "device" despite being dormant for the past 15 years. Someone find me some of those batteries!

Yes but do you give all your automatic fire rounds to your regular grunts or your most trusted officers? You figure the Monroe militia has clearly scoured the land for automatic rifles and their bullets. But they're not gonna give their best weapons to just any old soldiers.

I bet Monroe himself has a huge stockpile of weapons collecting dust.

What I'm curious about is what is happening around the world. All the talk of bringing back the United States made the world they inhabit seem rather tiny. Especially when you consider that it's unlikely that the Monroe Militia spans the entirety of what was once the United States of America.

And what of beyond what was once USA? What's going on in Canada and Alaska? And what is happening in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela? I find it hard to believe that no other militia's formed there and never migrated towards what was once USA.
