CBS has sort of an itchy trigger finger these days. They may now deserve the cancellation king label.

On the flip side, have there been any really big hits so far?

NBC sure seems excited about Revolution.

Apparently Arrow was big by the standards set for the CW.

Outside of that (maybe even inside of that), no.

From what I've seen or heard so far, 2/3rd of these shows will be axed. No idea who will go first, but I'd be surprised if even 15 survive the year. And I think only 5 will even get renewed. The TV season this year is crap. Go On and Arrow are the only two I think that will get renewed for sure.

I just went to set the dvr and saw that csi ny was back in the 9pm slot
which is hilarious because just a day or two ago I saw commercials touting it's new 8pm time slot

I'm starting to think it will be higher than 2/3 this year. It would be odd to think virtually every new show not on the CW this year might get the ax, but we could be headed there.

Don't they usually start pulling the trigger once the first one goes?

Next Caller with Dane Cook was cancelled before 1 episode even aired.

It's still too early to tell for what may or may not go.

If Arrow and Vegas' ratings hold up, both of them will probably get full seasons.

Vegas does well in the precious demo? That's surprising. I've got 7 more years left in that demo and find the show boring. I can't imagine what a 20-something thinks.

NBC didn't even finish production on all six episodes they ordered. Lionsgate showed them the first four episodes and NBC cancelled it on sight.

Vegas is doing ass in the precious demo as I understand it. It's pretty much just like last year's entrant in the time slot, ratings wise. Strong in households, skewing way the fuck old.

I'd guess it will be expensive enough it won't go past one season.

I'll be pissed if it survives then since that was apparently what killed Defenders and that was a much more entertaining show.

The Defenders was as ludicrous as the sub people are saying Last Resort is, but it was entertaining. Vegas is also entertaining in a very different way, but I have to think it's way more expensive than The Defenders was. I think its only real hope is if the ratings change quite a bit as the season wears on.

I'm comparing CBS to CBS in that respect, which I think is fair. Plus Defenders was a show that cut between comedy/drama.

ABC - who knows. They've baffled me ever since they canned Philly 10 years ago and had a great show in Eyes. They were fools to put Last Resort at 8....like I've said many times, I don't get network suits. I think a monkey could do just as good a job.

Re: Which new show Fall 2012 will be cancelled first?

Oh, no, I get you. I only mention Last Resort in terms of how ridiculous The Defenders was. That's my world. It doesn't work that way.

The only real hope for Vegas aside from ratings growth as the season wears on is that CBS seems to be in a materially weaker position than they were even just last year based on the ratings. If that holds up, they may quite simply have bigger holes to deal with than Vegas.

I strenuously hate ABC for doing what they did to Eyes. That show had massive potential, but in hindsight it really was more of a USA premise.

Animal Practice has been officially canceled. Whitney will take its place starting Nov 14th.

This makes me worried about Community. I think we might get a 3-4 episode courtesy air and then cancellation with DVD for it.

With the Dane Cook show gone, Animal Practice gone, and 30 Rock ending, there's a chance Community could be a mid-season Thursday night series.

Oh yeah then it can return to it's old Thursday at 8pm timeslot and still get the same shitty ratings it's gotten the last 3 seasons. Regardless there is no chance in hell it gets a back 9 order.

It's funny how this show is so popular in the Internet community, yet noone fucking watches it.

I'm sure there is no back 9 and no future for the show. I just want to see the ones they make and hope beyond hope the new guys don't fuck it up.

It also didn't stand a chance on Fridays, so it is what it is. Enjoy this last set of episodes.
