Re: SNL - 09/22/12 - H: Joseph Gordon-Levitt - MG: Mumford & Sons

Joseph Gordon Levitt is a fantastic actor and performer but the material they gave him was garbage.

The highlight was probably him doing Magic Mike and face-humping Nasim Pedrad right off her chair

He did his best with what they gave him. It probably doesnt help that the show is going through a transitional phase with half the cast being newbies who are still finding where they fit in.

Jay Pharaoh however needs to leave immediately.

Its too bad they dont have a better black male cast member to play Michael Strahan because the Live with Kelly skit is usually a fun recurring one but he sucked anything funny out of it.

Im sure Daniel Craig will be completely wasted next episode with the cast still figuring things out.

I thought Kenan played Strahan in the past, don't know why they wouldn't just use him again.

The XXX sketches were pretty funny.

The XXX sketches were definitely funny and I thought McKinnon killed it as Anne Romney.

And the commercial blasting the undecided voter. That one hit the target dead on. Both SNL and Maher are pretty angry at them this week.

I enjoyed it for the most part. At least JGL was trying... he actually ACTED in all of his skits. And Mumford is just fantastic... man, those guys are good.

Who was the "hooker" in those son of the world's most interesting man sketches? I presume Vanessa Bayer? I guess she also played Ann Romney.

At the end of that detective sketch he says "it's not insanity it's little Armenia" which is funny because that the LA neighborhood I use to live in. I may be the only person that laughed at that.

The hooker was someone else entirely. Ann Romney was played by the lesbian cast member they added at the tail end of last season.

Hooker - Cecily Strong...new cast member. She's been in quite a few sketches these first two episodes.

Ann Romney - Kate McKinnon...joined the cast last year.

And the two of them and Vanessa Bayer couldn't look more different from each other.

The only one that had me laughing was the "hypnotist" sketch. And yes...Jay Pharaoh sucks.

JGL really tried but the material was not funny. This was really a huge step down from last week.

JGL looks pretty good as a woman.

Funny how people on this forum liked Jay Pharaoh last season. Now he sucks? Hrmph.

They seemed to like him as recently as last week when he took over Obama from Fred Armisen.

It's so weird following TV threads. Love, hate, love, hate, love, hate. . .

I think it's time to find a new eye doctor.

I have to admit, aside from the big girl , I really cant distinguish many of the female cast members, nor the males aside from Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, and Jason Sudeikis. I wouldn't know Pharoah if he weren't mentioned so much .

Re: SNL - 09/22/12 - H: Joseph Gordon-Levitt - MG: Mumford & Sons

I liked this episode over the premiere.

Worst opening monologue ever. I thought this was NBC and not BRAVO or LOGO lol.

The second son of the most interesting man in the world video was hilarious.

It would have been even better if Samburg and his crew was still on the show to work on those Dos Equis spoofs.

There was an Asian guy "Albert" on the undecided voter video. Wonder if he is a new cast member too and working his way up though he is not mentioned in the opening credits.

Prefer Poehler and Hammond as the Regis and Kelly hosts.

"Dorian Gray? Who is that, Reege?! I don't know who that is!"

Here's a guide for you:

Vanessa Bayer - Big Teeth
Kate McKinnon - Crazy Eyes and Dimples
Cecily Strong - Latina
Nasim Pedrad - Mousy
Aidy Bryant - Female Farley

I'd bang 'em all (Big girls need love, too).

Yeah, because all mainstream media in the US is only supposed to be for straight men.

Not that there was a damn thing clever about that opening, I agree. But if you think you deserve to live in a world free of beefcake, you might wanna just poke your eyes out now. The era of the "straight male gaze" being only one that matters or sells tickets is long over.
