The X-Factor -- The 2nd season (Auditions Thread) -- Wednesdays/Thursdays (FOX)

Re: The X-Factor -- The 2nd season (Auditions Thread) -- Wednesdays/Thursdays (FOX)
Just watched Thursdays episode.
Did not like that 16-year old who started things off. Just reminds me of a Hispanic version of Astro. And honestly, I thought his rapping sucked.
The 13-year old girl Carly was amazing. Very mature vocals for her age. I actually kind of like her better than Rachel Crowe from last season.
The guy who brought Britney the flowers was creepy. I don't blame her for not saying much to him.
I know the judges loved the flaming gay guy and yeah I thought his vocals were pretty good. But, damn, he was fucking annoying as hell. I find people like that so obnoxious.

I love Simon's hatred of Adele, it's hilarious.

The editing for these 2 hours was really weird.
Hour 1 in Kansas City, Simon was sick and they get this guy Louie to fill in.
Hour 2, It took place in San Francisco and they edited it like Simon was making his big return back from illness. However, they already showed alot of the San Fracisco auditions last week. Britney and Demi were wearing the same clothes from last week, so it was obviously taken from the same day.
Simon's shirt also magically changed several times from white to black.
at that girl who wouldn't stop singing. It would have been funny if they said no because she kept going. But she pretty much had it in the bag.
at the fat black lady...Panda.
at her saying she needed to cough up some phlegm.
I had to laugh at how they made a big deal of that idiot black kid stealing the microphone.
There were a few good performers. I really liked the hispanic girl with the red streaks who sang that Pink song.

I'm not sure he hates her songs as much as he's tired of hearing them in auditions. Tons of struggling artist have decided if Adele's songs catapulted her from relative obscurity to the pinnacle of the industry, they'd do the same for them if people would just hear them sing them.
Luckily, Somebody That I Used To Know is a duet and doesn't really make a good audition song.

I think it's more about the constant butchering of her music than the artist herself. Doesn't he do the same type of show over the Pond?

He's one of the judges on Britain's Got Talent and was a judge of the UK version of The X-Factor. So yeah he's probably sick and tired of Adele.

And was it just me, or did they splice in some of Simon's comments from last week, as if they had been delivered to this week's contestants? I am certain that some of the things he said were identical to last week. For example, at one point he said "you got 4329 yeses", which I distinctly remember from last week (unless that is just his meme for this year).

Just watched Thursday's episode tonight.
at Willy Jones who looked like he was from 1995 singing country. That was unexpected. Even though he made it to Boot Camp, I doubt he will advance very far. Seemed like a good kid though.
Really liked Jeffrey (the rocker with the 4 year old) He really nailed Hallelujah and gave it more of an edge.
at the last girl Krysten Colon. What a bitch. At least her Mom was courteous enough to apologize for her awful bahavior. She was given a golden opportunity and butchered it with a tired Whitney Houston song that butchered.
I found it a little annoying this episode that they played up the bad weather angle. You could tell the loud thunder noises were added in post to exaggerate the whole situation.

Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez were named the hosts of The X-Factor's live shows today.
I'm a little behind. Still working through the Boot Camp episodes.

Okay, I'm now caught up through last week's episode. Is everyone here way behind on this show? The Live performance shows are coming up very soon and you really can't let a show like this build up unwatched.
I heard about the major fuck up with this week's episode on FOX and how baseball screwed things up. That's absolute BS that FOX would air 40 minutes of the episode, then pull it after baseball supposedly would be back and then air a Mindy repeat. On the West Coast, we got a repeat from 2 weeks ago.
I'm puzzled why the hell did Willie Jones make it? He fucked up that Tony Rich song during Boot Camp. Also, Vino didn't deserve to make it as well since he also forgot lyrics during Boot Camp.
Here are all the remaining contestants in case you are still keeping track.

and Cece Frey needs to lose the retarded Leopard spots on her face. It's hard for me to take her serious as an artist with that corny look.

Re: The X-Factor -- The 2nd season (Auditions Thread) -- Wednesdays/Thursdays (FOX)
I'm not getting the Willie Jones love at all. I'd much rather have seen Bully Girl go through. I have a hard time believing Demi picked him to go through over Bully Girl, which makes me think the producers have a hand in "helping" the judges pick their teams.
As for the 25+, he wasn't even in the running (didn't make it to judge's "houses"), but I really felt Jeffrey Adam Gutt should have been there. I'm not a rock guy, but he's one of those rock singers that crosses over and makes me listen. His performance of Hallelujah rocked. He's the only one from that group that I've any interest in watching perform.
The episode aired complete on CTV in Canada. If anyone wants to know the final 16, here you go.
I don't want to mention any more who made it / who didn't as it may be spoilers for the majority of U.S. viewers.
Lyric145 is the only group I really liked, though they have some presentation issues. Like Simon said, they can get sloppy (which in all fairness, is something I can say for many hip hop artists). I also liked Astro from last season.
Season 2 of The X Factor is once again claiming the title of the "singing reality show" that I save the most performances from. More than AI. More than The Voice. Even when I have a hard time digesting most rap, Lyric145 comes along and does Party In The USA and it's actually fun (for me). I had to go back and YouTube the Miley Cyrus version.
I know X Factor is "processed" but they do a good job of getting the vocal performances out there. At one point, I wondered if they go back in the studio and do voice overs. It was quite windy at Britney's "house" but you couldn't tell based on what we hear. Sure there are unidirectional microphones and filters, but still. That was some excellent audio quality given the environment showed on the screen.
How about Carly Rose Sonnenclar? That girl's something else.
I hope Beatrice Miller will be OK. I can see her dreams being crushed on a daily basis. She has been in the industry for some time (yes, even at 13), and even voiced a character in Toy Story 3. She's had a lot of success. But I can see in her eyes that she feels all the love she anticipated getting is going to Carly. In interviews I've seen, she doesn't dislike Carly. They're friends, and she thinks Carly's a genuinely good person who is surpremely talented. But she must be getting that Scottie Pippen vibe right about now when she wants to be Michael Jordan.
I love the stripped down, Unplugged-type performances. Rachel Crow did it last season with I Want It That Way, and Carly did it this year with Brokenhearted.

Man, what a weird selection episode.
The previous week ended on a cliffhanger with Britney and LA Reid agonizing who they were going to cut. So I was expecting a continuation.
This episode, which was supposed to air last week edited out Britney and LA's parts and only showed Simon and Demi's parts in the 1 hour.
The end of the episode showed a quick recap on who was chosen from everyone's groups.
Here's who I like:
Simon:
LYLA's
Sister C
LA:
David Correy
Britney:
Carly Rose Sonenclar
Demi:
Jennel Garcia
I was kind of annoyed how Jilian Jensen just cried like her life was over.
Should be interesting how the Live shows go with Mario Lopez and Khloe Odom hosting.

Yeah, they showed LA Reid's and Britney's decisions during the rain delay of the Cardinals/Giants game last week. I only caught it 'cause I was channel surfing.
WTF is up with Simon's decision to keep the 3 white douchebags who always looked stoned? I hate how he is so much into looks as well. I understand thats prolly the major factor on who becomes stars but damn these dudes don't even take the rehearsals seriously. Pissed me off big time. lol
