If G4 is resurrected as another gaming/geek channel I hope they put more gaming/geek programming on it besides X-Play and Attack of the Show, both of which I couldn't stand. For being a geek/gamer network, I never thought G4 had that much geek or gamer programing. Every time I passed it up in the Guide it was showing either Cheaters, Cops, or Campus PD. It seemed like they only had a half-dozen actual shows and just kept rerunning them over and over again all day. I remember a couple years ago there were two shows on that network, Icons and Game Makers. I was interested in watching both of them, except I don't think they lasted that long. Maybe they could put something like that back on.

That's probably very plausible.

Pretty fucked up two do with 2 weeks left before launch.

Not just plausible, that is the reason:

Style is not only better situated than G4 on the cable dial but also in more than 75 million homes compared to G4's 62 million.

They butchered American Ninja Warrior when NBC began to broadcast the show. It reeks of desperation when they continue to throw female athletes at the course beyond the first stage, through wild cards and the such.

Re: Report: G4 As We Know It Is As Good As Gone.

Looks like TW dropped it today. I know I watched some over the weekend, but its missing tonight.

From their Facebook:

Time Warner Cable We dropped G4 Network from our channel lineups. Due to the low viewership of G4, we do not believe it represents a good value for our customers

From their Facebook:
All TW dropped was a zombie network as G4 is remaining the G4 channel with no new programming planned.

Esquire actually took over the Style channel in a last minute change that took effect today.

So did TW cut the monthly fees for all its customers that had been receiving G4 by the amount it cost them to provide G4?

It's a zombie network. Is it just Cops 24/7?

Just checked and it's also gone from my Comcast here in the burbs of Chicago. It's only been about a year since they aired the final episodes of AoTS.

Hopefully this means they will be adding FXX in HD soon.

In somewhat relevant news, American Ninja Warrior: USA Vs. Japan aired on NBC today. NBC keeps bringing the show back for new specials, so I guess G4 will live on in some small way.

Re: Report: G4 As We Know It Is As Good As Gone.

G4 is still on my AT&T Uverse. It's been showing a lot of repeats, obviously. XPlan, Cops, etc.
The funny thing is they still show commercials for new shows on the new Esquire network. I am not sure I see that channel in the lineup.

Not sure exactly what's going on with the channel or what they plan to do with it.

American Ninja Warrior moved to Esquire Network, it was the only program kept from the G4 to Esquire to Style to Esquire change.

And on that note, the Nerdist Channel on YouTube has Nerdist News featuring Jessica Chobot. This is basically similar to G4's The Feed right down to "special guests" like Cobra Commander helping with the news.

Appropriate bump for a necro thread...

NBCUniversal says November 30th, 2014 is the day G4 will finally go dark on all carriers.

I thought all G4 channels were converted to the Esquire channel. Are they still actually running two year old X-Play episodes somewhere?

NBCUniversal changed their minds on switching G4 to Esquire because G4 was not in enough households. The Style Network was changed to the Esquire Network instead.

And yes, very old reruns of pretty much all G4 programs except American Ninja Warrior (moved to Esquire Network) and Attack of the Show. I could be wrong about AOTS though, DirecTV dropped G4 way, way, way before the official closure and long before the planned rebranding that never happened.

Re: Report: G4 As We Know It Is As Good As Gone.

Oh yeah, you're right. I remember now. I had forgotten probably because Comcast removed the remaining G4 channel from my cable back in January 2014.
