Better 90's sitcom - Suddenly Susan or Caroline in the City

A friend and I got into it pretty bad the other night over what was the better show - Suddenly Susan or Caroline in the City. What do you say?

I watched both back in the day, and watched a SS Christmas episode last year for the holiday challenge. I think that CITC might hold up better.

I voted for Suddenly Susan because of Richard Alpert/Bat Manuel. I'm willing to overlook the fact that Kathy Griffin's character was blatant ripoff of Beth from News Radio.

Lea Thompson is not hot anymore? Maybe it's a good thing I didn't pony up $40 for her autograph at Emerald City Con.

And I always thought the Cats chick was better than semi-hot. This photo certainly shows she's attractive, but I wouldn't say she's stunning or anything.

I have fonder memories of Caroline in the City, but neither are great.

All the shows after Seinfeld and Friends sucking really bad and tanking when they moved to other timeslots makes me think NBC should have shown test patterns or yul log in those time slots to save money on sets, writers, producers and actors. In regards to the question the op is asking its almost a case of asking which would you rather have gonorrhea or genital warts. I guess genital warts

Re: Better 90's sitcom - Suddenly Susan or Caroline in the City

I used to love Caroline in the City. It was like the Archie comics; I never laughed, it was pretty lame, but something about its tone and vibe was very comforting. Lea Thompson projects such a cute personality.

Random Thoughs:
Strange that so many sitcoms make their lead character a cartoonist (Bob, Too Close For Comfort...)

I wonder why halfway through the series they got rid of the beautiful LOLITA poster Caroline had hanging on the wall.

I love the episode of Larry Sanders where Hank wants to break into acting, and gets a gig on Caroline in the City but Lea Thompson fires him cause he keeps trying to cram in Hey Now's.

Never watched either show but voted CitC only because I've met Lea and she was just as nice as she seems.

The correct answer is Newsradio.

Ah, the number of times friends and I have had horrible raging arguments over mediocre 90s sitcoms....

And NewsRadio is always the answer.

I like Brooke Shields better than Lea Thompson so I voted SS but neither were very memorable.
