As far as the actors goes,

I looked at a few Twitter accounts on the day this news was announced and only Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion) made any comments about season 2.

Jeri Ryan (Sonya) and Michael Jai White (Jax) haven't commented yet. I have to assume that Warner Bros needs to re-sign these guys.

I hope Jeri Ryan and Michael Jai White are back. By the way, Djariya, Ian Anthony Dale was Scorpion.

I'm not familiar with Kenshi. From which of the games is he?

Thx

Not familiar with Kenshi either, but this game promo video shows him:

Interesting. I looked him up over at Wikipedia and it seems that Kenshi first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

According to IGN, Kevin Tancharoen is helming the theatrical reboot:

So it's finally official? Awesome.

I hope it's inkeeping with his Raiden short. I really liked the tone. And I actually liked Charlie in that, unlike how she is in Revolution.

But isn't the plot summary in that article the plot summary for the upcoming Liu Kang short rather than the theatrical movie?

It's coming from IGN, which is not the most reliable website, so I would take the news with a healthy grain of salt.

Sweet. Really enjoyed the first series for what it was. This looks even better.

Looks awesome but did they just recast everyone?

Great to see Carey Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung and Mark Dacascos as Kung Lao.

Didn't they kill Cage in the very first episode (or original 10min trailer)?

They killed him in Mortal Kombat: Rebirth but that's a seperate continuity from Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

Speaking of Rebirth, I hope it's included with the eventual BD release of season 2 of Legacy. It irked me that they talked about it in the BD release of Legacy season 1 but avoided showing so much as a clip of it. The set felt incomplete without it.

My question precisely! Why isn't the Rebirth pilot film on the damn Blu-Ray? It's irritating! Anyway, looking forward to this. I have zero knowledge of anything related to the MK franchise, but enjoyed the first series.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy -- Season 2 Announced (It's Tournament Time!!"

So can Casper Van Dien actually fight? Cos even if Matt Mullins wasn't the best actor, he was a believeable fighter as Johnny Cage.

Also, to answer my own question from earlier, according to Wikipedia, only Ian Anthony Dale reprises his role from season 1.

Here's the cast:

Ian Anthony Dale as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion – General of the Japanese Shirai Ryu clan of ninjas, opposed to the Lin Kuei.

Harry Shum, Jr. as Kuai Liang/Sub-Zero – Lin Kuei assassin who dons the costume and identity of his older brother, Bi Han, to become the new Sub-Zero. Described as a "warlord advisor."

Brian Tee as Liu Kang – Shaolin monk and friend of Kung Lao fighting alongside Shang Tsung

Mark Dacascos as Kung Lao – Friend of Liu Kang and fellow Shaolin monk.

Casper Van Dien as Johnny Cage – Troubled, famous actor fighting alongside Earth's defenders.

David Lee McInnis as Raiden – God of Thunder and Protector of Earthrealm, leading Earth's warriors in the defence against Shang Tsung's.

Samantha Tjhia as Kitana – Former princess of Edenia, daughter of King Jerrod and Queen Sindel, raised as an assassin by Emperor Shao Kahn.

Michelle Lee as Mileena – A half-Edinian half-Tarkatan clone of Kitana, trained as Kahn's loyal assassin.

Eric Jacobus as Kurtis Stryker – Lieutenant in the Deacon City police department fighting alongside Earth's defenders.

Daniel Southworth as Kenshi – Blind swordsman possessing the power of psychokinesis.

Kim Do Nguyen as Ermac – Fighter composed of the souls of multiple dead warriors.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung – Sorcerer hosting the Mortal Kombat tournament, leading his warriors against Earthrealm.

[...]

Jeri Ryan and Michael Jai White will not be returning; their replacements unknown, while Darren Shahlavi and his role as Kano will not be featured.
That last part makes me .

Yeah Jeri wont be back because of TV commitments, and Jai White is going to be in the MK movie instead.

Very excited to see Dacascos and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

I hope the entire season one cast from the Sonya, Jax, & Kano two-parter come back for the movie. I also hope Ryan Robbins returns as Raiden in the movie. I liked his portrayal of the character.

It is great to see Mark Dacascos and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa in this.

Harry Shum Jr. is an interesting choice for Sub-Zero. He's an incredible dancer (he's on Glee) so I imagine they could choreograph some good fight sequences with him.

Daniel Southworth will be badass! Had no idea he was going to be in this. Happy with Mark Dacascos, too.

He's doing both. However, the movie will not be a continuation of Legacy or the games. I wonder if the latter means we'll be getting a movie more akin to Rebirth and the Raiden episode of Legacy.
