My fingers are crossed for John Noble to finally get a nod for his role as Walter Bishop... but it's a long shot.

Jared Harris

Also love the major love for Girls, Curb and Veep and the writing nominations for Mad Men.

Justified was booted out almost all together.

So Louie has nominations for acting, writing, and directing (all the same guy) -- but somehow the series doesn't get nominated?

And where's Mandy Patinkin?!

Interesting that "American Horror Story" is considered a mini-series.

Not surprising but still good to see Claire Danes and Homeland get some love. Even Damien Lewis broke into that tough "best leading actor in a drama" category.

Interesting that Missing is too...considering I'm pretty sure that's just a show that was canceled.

And I love Modern Family, but 4 out of 6 of the best supporting actors in Comedy on TV are on one show? Ridiculous. Though it'll never happen, I still think there should be a "one nomination per show per category" rule. Force the voters to try a little harder instead of just picking all the actors from a show they like.

it was 10 epiosdes so i guess that counted

also re Modern family, i think half the problem w everyone getting a supporting is that none of the actors are submitted as a lead

That stupid. Sorry, Hollywood, AHS is a SERIES. Doesn't matter - most those winners are going to either be for GAME CHANGE or HATFIELDS & McCOYS.

Only one nomination for justified and it goes to Jeremy Davies? Boooo!!!!!! The Emmys are boring and predictable, the same shows win every year.

Glad to see Community get a nod for Remedial Chaos Theory, but it should have gotten more. Best Comedy, perhaps Pudi for Supporting Actor.

Special Effects: Not sure how Blackwater was not nominated. Wildfyre was the visual effect of the year.

I get that, but I'm sure everyone involved in that show intended it to go on for years. So the idea that a cancelled show is now a "mini series" is amusing to me.

also re Modern family, i think half the problem w everyone getting a supporting is that none of the actors are submitted as a lead
That's why the voters should be forced to pick one. One can't say there aren't supporting actors on other shows who are just as deserving. It drives home how out of touch the Emmys are with what's actually on TV.

Is this the first time SNL has been nominated in the comedy acting categories (non-guest star)? I don't remember ever seeing that before.

I agree that American Horror Story being classified as a mini-series is BS.

It's been like that for about five years - they took away that Individual in a Variety Series category and let the regulars of those shows compete in supporting and the guests compete in the guest categories.

Re: Prime Time Emmy Nominations to be announced 7/19/12 @ 5:40am PST

I agree with a lot of the nominations. The one nomination in drama categories that is total crap is Kathy Bates' nomination in the lead actress category. She hasn't been deserving of Emmy nominations in the past couple of years.

I agree with others in this thread, American Horror Story being classified as a mini-series is BS. I love Connie Britton, Jessica Lange, and Francis Conroy but none of them will win.

Louie should have had the nod. I don't think Community will ever get a best comedy series nods or acting nods.

Re: Prime Time Emmy Nominations to be announced 7/19/12 @ 5:40am PST

to Strike Back getting an Emmy nomination for Main title design. It's probably one of the coolest on TV. Not that I expected it to get a nomination for any other category.

Hoping Homeland wins for Best Drama and Lead Actress. I would say Lead Actor for Damien Lewis, but I just got into Breaking Bad and got caught up for season 5 and Cranston is just phenominal.

I don't care much about the Emmys anymore, but it's disappointing that Justified got no love, particularly in the Actor and Supporting Actor categories.

It's bizarre that Louie didn't get a Best Show nomination, given the other nominations.
