Picked Homeland slightly over Breaking bad... Third would be Dexter which slipped a couple spots from it being my favorite show before

I guess I need to get Breaking Bad on DVD.
I'm actually a tad surprised by the results of this poll -- I thought this forum would pick the zombie or vampire show (though the fantasy genre show is 2nd).

I'm surprised at the gulf between got and mm. Not surprised that bb is ahead. Surprised that homeland is way down the list

My current favorites:
1. Mad Men
2. Game of Thrones
3. Justified
4. Breaking Bad
5. Fringe
Game of Thrones will probably take the top spot if the upcoming seasons is as awesome as the first two seasons. That's why Homeland isn't on my top 5 just yet, since it only has one great season, if next season is as good as the first one, it would probably make it.

So hard to pick just one. Even harder to rank them. I have to resort to the "what do you watch when the DVR's full" method. That would be:
Fringe
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Parenthood
The Newsroom (I'm becoming addicted to it)
etc. etc.

Of that list, I'd rank them as:
1. Mad Men -- by far above all competitors.
2. Game of Thrones
3. Boardwalk Empire
4. Walking Dead
5. True Blood
Although I'd put American Horror Story above Walking Dead, and Sherlock above Boardwalk Empire and maybe tied with Game of Thrones.

Justified over Breaking Bad, mostly because I have watched Justified the way a serial should be watched -- with pauses of a week from episode to episode. Watching 4 seasons of Breaking Bad within a month was great, but it makes it difficult for me to accurately rank it in this setting. It's really good, though.

Longmire isn't serialized. Sure, some of the character stuff carries over, but it's case of the week.
If you were to tune into Sunday's episodes of Falling Skies, Breaking Bad and not have seen it from the beginning, you would have no clue what's going on. That's serial.

1. Mad Men
2. Fringe
3. Breaking Bad
4. Dexter
All four above are all pretty close, but I think Mad Men just edges the others out. I watch Walking Dead and True Blood as well- they're flawed but enjoyable shows. I must get to watching Homeland soon- it's been on my list but I haven't gotten to it yet.

Picked Spartacus even though I don't think its the best. Breaking Bad probably holds that title, but Spartacus is the one I look forward to more.
If you included action shows Strike Back would top my list.

I watch virtually no fictional TV to begin with, so for me, Longmire is an accomplishment.
